He is a total fool. You give up on your team who is firmly in the playoffs and just got back one of the top 3 players in the game along with your legacy of 15 some odd years of success which has included a Cup win and where you had firmly a home town legacy for life. (Not to mention the beautiful sunshine year round down there) . All this just because of you got chosen (!) late for your national team which you won a Gold Medal with anyways?! What a huuge whining female dog..not only did it totally ruin his image of being that 'little good guy who could' into a man with an obvious Napoleon syndrome, but he lost the respect of every Tampa fan no doubt who grew up watchng him play and succeed for them. Probably cost his # from being retired and perhaps a HOF induction I would wager as well.

That has nothing to do with what I said, but thanks for reminding me If we're going to bring up ancient history though, I'll have to ask you how you only won the cup 3 times in your first 40 years with only 5 other teams in the league? Not winning the cup in almost 40 years doesn't seem so bad compared to the rangers 53 year drought between 1940 and 1994.

He had his “I didn’t get picked for the Olympic team on the first selection! I want a trade!” snit. Well, get over it, a lot of other deserving players didn’t get picked, either. And to STILL be pouting over it even after he was eventually picked and his team won the gold medal?

What kind of message is that to send to your team that you are captain of or any kid that plays sports. It is the wrong message. Pretty much everyone I respect within today's game agrees that Steve Yzerman won the trade – getting a great team LEADER who can also score plus several top draft picks in return for St. Louis.

If he is in fact getting uncomfortable with the NY media than he is an even bigger fool for requesting this trade. In his first presser he said he was excited to play in a "big market" yet now he's surprised the big market media has an endless supply of microphones for him to speak into.

As a Bolts fan he at the very least damaged his legacy but really in a way destroyed the legacy as it was. Nothing will take away his accomplishments while here but by asking out when and how he did he destroyed what was a near perfect legacy to which I don't think will ever be the same

I'm pretty sure alot of his reasoning to make the decision was b/c of his wife. She loved spending the offseasons at their Conn home and when the Olympic decision came down that gave him the ammunition (in his head) to ask out and make his wife happy

For the most part I completely agree. As for future jersey retirement that I believe will still happen but it won't be for a good while so as to let fans have time to forgive of sorts. There's no denying his accomplishments while here and in the long run to not retire his jersey would do just that. There is also no denying he damaged his legacy and to a certain extent that damage may be permanent in some aspects.

As if winning one cup two decades ago, and nothing for fifty years before that is at all better. We're both digging up dinosaur bones on this one, Hoss.

and yet they still have more cups than the rangers do since the flyers came into existence, and many more cup final appearances. there is no debate over who has been the more successful franchise since 1967. it's not even close. and again, this has nothing to do with the original comment. as a rangers fan, you have to be aware of the very long list of veterans who underperformed after being acquired.

flyers prevented the rangers from the playoffs in 2010, knocked them out the last time they played against one another in the post season in 1997, and dethroned them in 95. i can understand why that must be annoying.
