I don't understand why there are rumors to move Spezza when the management confirmed they never thought about it. Senators have been built around the player. Not sure who the source is, but its loosing credibility.

Wouldn't that just be the cherry on the sh!t sundae this team has presented fans with this season. I don't necessarily disagree with moving on from Conacher - but why now? Why allow a scenario where a division rival grabs him how? I'm at a loss here - he's an RFA in 19 games, and if last night is any indication, the coaching staff believe he's an important piece of the equation. This is the first time I'm wondering what the hell Murray is doing (note: I blame Melnyk and his BS 'internal budget' for Alfie, not Murray). Is there some influence from ownership to save a few more bucks?

Seems similar (but way less intense) to the day Alfie left and Ryan came. Huge WTF moments followed by (frank) ya moments. I suspect something similar today. We will be talking about something bigger come 3 pm.

I agree,I think a trade is coming. They waived these guys for a reason.

You're most likely right ... but I'm left worried that the "something" will be grabbing a rental for no good reason at this point ...

Yup. I wouldn't be too surprised if Conacher to Buffalo via waivers was just part of the plan, though why he wouldn't just be part of the deal straight up is a mystery. Maybe just a sneaky way to have the Sens keep some salary?

Conacher wasn't sent over the boards in the last minute. He was the coach's poor choice to serve Gryba's penalty. Therefore, he was the guy that came out of the box with 35 seconds left and jumped into the play.

Another of many examples of the "off year" MacLean is having, in my opinion.

I mean, I just don't believe management here. I get why they're saying they have never thought about it. I just don't believe them.

Perhaps Maclean giving him an opportunity to make a play in what was likely his last game as a Sen, with something to prove.

Def something I can see Maclean doing.

Or just a brain cramp

Yes and no ... maybe MacLean was thinking back to the playoffs last year and his gamble that paid off when he sent Conacher in to tie it up in the last minute. But still, it makes you wonder - if the coaches feel that highly of him, what's the disconnect with management?

Nope neither do I ,we wont be resigning spezza anyhow. So to look at his value at a time when its probably the highest it will be this season,is more than probable

Conacher is just a plug in Buffalo.

He is there to fill a hole when they trade away 2 or 3 roster players today. Buffalo probably doesn't want to rush what few prospects they have, so they need guys to fill holes.

Conacher is that guy. He won't last more than one more year in the NHL.

I honestly don't even think he's a tweener. He wouldn't even be that good in the AHL. He lacks speed and vision for a player that small.

His best bet will be to go to Switzerland in a few years and hope to pull in 100K/yr for a decade.

Of course Anahiem wants Spezza.

And Ottawa wants some of the assets back from last year's trade including the #1 pick, Silfverberg and perhaps Emerson Etem.
