Lets get him re-signed as I don't believe we would get good value in trade market and Stats is important piece of our team

The Blues wouldn't be able to afford what Stastny will get on the open market. Not with Millers next contract and their own internal budget. So keep dreaming buddy.

They actually have quite a bit of space. Stastny would take Roy's spot at only 2.5ish million more. It's just more of a reason to get Stastny signed.

Ok, I will keep dreaming.

And actually, I believe that they can make it work. Elliott will be gone as well next year, so Miller & Allen should not be that much more than Halak & Elliott.

Roy will likely be gone. I hope that they re-sign Ott as well, and the difference between Stewart & Roy, and what Stastney & Ott will make shouldn't be that big. Plus, JBo's # is going down next season & Steen is already re-signed.

Stastny is not out of the question, in fact if he becomes an UFA I believe that the Blues will go hard after him.

He wont be cheap if he hits the open market. Could still be at 6.5m if thats the case. I have a hard time beliving him taking a cap friendly discount on the open market if he decides to leave the Avs

I don't expect him to be cheap. Stewart & Roy made over $8M this year. I don't see Ott getting more than 3, maybe a little less than that if he signs here. So 6.5 would be an increase over Stewart & Roy this year, but not by much. The Blues can make it work if they want him.

I doubt that Berglund gets a significant raise. Sobotka will get a raise, but he also won't be a large raise. Schwartz, this is going to be his first deal out of his entry level deal. I would expect it to be similar to what the Blues did with the rest of their guys, a 2 year deal. So the cap hit likely won't be much higher than his entry level cap hit.

Halak, Elliott, Stewart, Roy, Colaiacovo, and Morrow (if not re-signed) will all come off the books.

Plus, they have a couple of prospects like Jaskin & Rattie that can move up if they decide to move a forward/not re-sign someone like Ott or Morrow that will be a savings. Jaskin is ready to play, Rattie is close as well. Our D is set, with JBo's cap going down by $1.25M starting next year.

Even with the RFA raises, they can make it work if they want to and he is available.

Edit: Berglund is also a guy that I can see them moving in the offseason. Leopold as well.

Sobotka's number will be under $3M, Schwartz will be around $2-2.25M and, if the Blues sign Stastny, Berglund will likely be moved for other assets.

I think you had a better shot at signing him if you had stewy. But if you resign Miller, he could come, they are good friends, plus playing with Backes, Oshie and Shattenkirk for USA, he could be comfortable with all those guys plus growing up in St Louis helps

Blues fans sure are greedy! They just want everything. Maybe hand us that all star defense and we call it a day?

For me Stastny either resigns or he doesn't. His loss on this team would have a bigger impact than how much tougher he can make 6ish games a year by playing against us. Really hope he stays here long term.

Have to say that line of Landeskog and Mackinnon with him looks unreal. Having Mack on the wing for now really gives him a spot to shine. I hope he stays too, he wont be lacking ice time by staying with us.

It's a much bigger deal if he ends up in St. Louis who we'll hopefully be facing in the playoffs for years to come.

STL and Ana would be the 2 most likely destinations.

What Stastny brings in strong 2 way play and a shut down C who can play against the other teams top line every night while still putting up points, good FO% and corsi numbers are something the Avs couldnt replace if he leaves. Losing him would set the Avs back quite a bit so what happens with him will have a very big impact on this team.

oh i know man you are preaching to the choir, hes not a pure offensive centerman, a lot of people look at his stats and say he isnt a 1st line center anymore bc he doesnt put up more than 60 points. There is more to his game than puck distribution. When the game is on the line you want him out there taking that draw, I do at least.

Yeah, Avs can score plenty of goals as is, but Stastny (as well as RoR) has been a huge reason why our D has managed to survive as well as they have this year.

That is why even if we got a solid Dman as a return the Avs still might be worse.
