little to zero chance that moulson ends up in LA, or vanek for that matter.

every year the kings are "rumored" to be in the mix for a big trade or free agent and it never happens. trust me, i wish it would.

It's worth noting, the Sabres have hit the max on number of contracts you can retain salary on, any trades they make will need to fit under a teams cap or be dollar for dollar. Anaheim has Souray on LTIR for the year, so they are fine cap wise, but a team like LA is not as flexible.

I read a report that Moulson doesn't want to come back to LA. He's better than any LW we currently have but I doubt he ends up in LA.

Anaheim has the 2nd or 3rd ranked prospects ala HF. As Kings fans we would appreciate if you took Emerson Etem, Devante Smith-Pelley and either John Gibson or Frederik Anderson.... Anderson really does have incredible NHL numbers this season 12-3 with a save above 920 and a GAA under or around 2 I believe.

Garth is actually dead on this one Buffalo has great D prospects. At least when ownership decided to rebuild in Buffalo they didn't do it half way. Should be a really exciting team sooner than later.

Guess those Carter, Jack Johnson, Mike Richards trades weren't that big of a deal...

I know next to nothing about the Ducks prospects but if we get this defenseman it will be a bit of a head scratcher even if it is for Ehrhoff... If its a multiple player deal ala Ehrhoff and Moulson I'd hope the return is great and preferably no picks just players/prospects. I think we trade Talinder as well and maybe a surprise guy like Folingo for the right price.

Weber and Myers are the main cogs in the Buffalo D right now...

Hold on a second; how on Earth is Mike (frank)ing Weber a "main cog" on the blueline?

IF the Sabres are going to get any goalie from the Ducks, Myers would have to be coming back in that deal. I know that sounds dumb, but that is what Bob Murray will be pushing for. Anderson is young, but played great last night. I have season tickets with the Ducks. I would hate to lose him. He is going to be real good. And to see that we could have him and Gibson as a tandom in the very near futre is very promising for not only the franchise but for the fans.
The reason I say that Myers would have to be coming back, the Ducks need a right handed shooting D-Man. Not Erhoff. Though I like Erhoffs cap hit a litte better, its just the remaiing 8 years on his contract that scares the crap out of me. But I big trade with these two teams. Tim Murray was around when the Ducks drafted most of these younger guys. I could see a trade like this

Ducks get:
Mouslon
Myers
3rd rounder

Sabres get:
Palmieri
Sbisa/Vatanen
Fasth
Ducks 1st (since we have 2 1sts this year)
4th rounder

I dont know. just a fun guess. I know fans value thier guys with the highest regard and all. But what do you think about this?

Fasth is marginally better than Enroth... Vatanen makes the deal somewhat good for us, but we need forwards...

I'm gonna guess that the Miller/Ott watch has replaced the Vanek watch which replaced the Pominville watch for the rest of the year.

Didn't they just trade for Carter and Richards a couple years ago when they were rumoured to be after him? Lol your premise holds no ground.

Lombardi rarely trades for pending UFA's. Its not in his DNA, Kings are not after Moulson or Vanek. I think Regeher was one pending UFA he did trade for, but he was pretty sure he could resign him given Reghers relationship with Sutter. Also Lombardi values defense more, so if he trades for a pending UFA, most likely will be a defensemen. (Seems the Islanders have a cheap pending UFA DMAN he might cut a deal for.)

The thought is both Moulson and Vanek would not resign with the Kings which even makes an unlikely trade that much more of a long shot.

Lombardi traded for Carter and Richards, 2 long term contract guys
He traded for Penner who had another year on his deal. Justin Williams is another guy that had term left when the Kings traded for him. Stoll, Matt Greene same thing.

Kings before the Olympics were reported trying to swing a deal to get Gagner, who also has term left on his contract.

If you know Lombardi's history, you know why pending UFA's are a long shot to end up with the Kings. If the guy has a year or 2 left on his contract, you can be sure the Kings are kicking the tire.

Sabres should still get a great return for Moulson, but don't think the Kings are bidding him up at this point.

Miller will be on vacation in St. Louis. Only 25 SOG? He's used to 40.

It's nice to have a goaltender whose body language exudes confidence.

I'm grateful that this deal was able to get worked out and it's an incredible bonus to have Steve Ott along as well.

Smith Pelley
Fasth
Anaheims 1st(no way im dealing the ottawa pick)
For
Myers
Stewart(hoping he could stick it to the blues)
And a 2nd

richards was in the offseason, not the stretch run. that deal and the carter deal came out of left field, they weren't "this makes perfect sense" type acquisitions that were rumored for weeks/months, unlike vanek and moulson are.

in contrast, think about the names that were all but destined to be in LA, particularly free agents: kovy? gaborik? parise? brad richards? that's what i'm referring to.

the penner deal a few years ago probably is the closest thing lombardi has done for a glaring need at the deadline. i've read the same blurbs talked about above that moulson doesn't want to be in LA (despite being quick's brother in law and growing up in the system) and vanek alluding to wanting to be in minnesota. with that in mind, just seems unlikely lombardi would overpay at the deadline to acquire either.

don't get me wrong, if lombardi gets either and it doesn't cost toffoli in either deal and they sign long term, i'm a happy guy.

I am a Ducks fan too and would rather see Sbisa moved over Vatenen, but I do not see that happening.

I have heard that the Ducks are looking to move Anderson over Fasth, which I would prefer.
