Doubt you'd get Patches or Ryan for Callahan without another significantly valuable asset added.

paciorrettys stock is at an all time high and is under contract for a while

not sure bergevin ever does this deal with callahan as an ufa

especially with patches also having a much more favorable cap hit the next few years than what cally will cost

simmonds would for sure shock me, but in the sense that i have no f-ing clue what either holmgren or sather are thinking

I was thinking about places that either need a culture change or leadership infusion as well as those that any deal with the Rangers could be shocking

Could be but Boomer is not one to just throw something out there and he has the history to back it up

I had no idea that he was a Rangers/NHL insider until I read this blog. Never would have guessed a former NFL star QB would tweet out NHL trade rumors.

i hear ya, not criticizing you specifically

really trying to think outside the box too myself, but the more you drift, the more you try to analyze the facts and its almost impossible to find a fit logically

ESPECIALLY in the East

for some reason a guy like franzen pops in my head

been ok in Detroit the last few years, but they want more from him, injury prone though

i don't think he is as untouchable as he once was

Yes the Flyers are desperate to acquire and pay Callahan 6 or so million per year while dumping Simmonds who is making less than 4 per.

We all can dream I guess.

Have you seen that contract? He turns 35 during next year with 6 years left at almost 4 million per.

Franzen is out with a concussion, but due back soon, but his 11-year, $43.5 million contract runs through 2019-20, no thanks.

I said his name and team because Esiason said shocking, didn't say it would happen. All is this is pure speculation.

Simmonds will remain a flyer for a very very long time. Coach and management glow about him. Dude never takes a shift off and is signed to a great contract.

Now Hartnell......?

Too many years left on his deal, a product of playing with Giroux, don't see him here. Would fit because he is someone the Ranger fans have hated but length of and dollars in contract seem to preclude a trade

Maybe, but injuries have made him a shell of his former self and I have no interest in acquiring him. Done little in Montreal and lost last few seasons due to injuries

The more I think about it, I think it's Chris Neil. I think he fits the respect bullet point that Boomer mentioned. He makes them look like a seller in that he isn't the player that Cally is, but also a buyer because he is locked in for a few years for cheap. Maybe I'm not thinking big enough here, but Cally for Neil and a first or something like that.

I was thinking him as well and going to add him into the blog. Only thing is I don't view him as a top-six forward.

i pondered the Chris Neil thought after you mentioned it, but if its really a 1 for 1 deal like boomer mentioned, nyr are REALLY selling themselves short here

I think its your other thought Pete. I got a strong feeling it is Brad Marchand. And its not for Cally, but could be for Girardi instead.

Yeah, I also heard that Boomer in taking questions, says the returning player would immediately go on the Rangers top line. If he did say that, that's obviously not Neil. I'm really at a loss on that one. Did the Jackets give Horton a no trade? He might make some sense.
