I didn't see brown play a shift after his kneeing penalty. Pacioretty appeared to take his spot on Backes and Callahan line after the Datsyuk pp goal |

Do you guys remember that time TJ Oshie made Putin experience human emotion for about 2 seconds? Yeah, that was cool. |

Seems like that's a common hit in the same part of the ice for him. It certainly isn't gonna gain him any fans outside of LA. He will catch a lot of crap for that hit from NHL fans, especially sharks, yotes and knucks fans. Those teams have seen that hit before. |

I find it refreshing to hear a Kings player call out one of their own. I guess even Voynov wants to play honest hockey sometimes. Can someone please suspend Brown? It's about time he gets the repeat offender title. |

They showed how the net was knocked off it's moorings and it was the play before against Ilya Kovalchuk when Quick slid over to stop a shot and hit the net mooring. End of story. Voynov was frustrated and had a mic in his face 10 min after the game ended. I would have to see the Brown knee on knee again because I didn't see it clearly on the replay. How about Cam Fowler though ! Great game by him! |

Not sure how you are implying that what Quick did wasn't honest.
Clear as day he slid over to make a save and hit the post. Accidents do exist ya know? I doubt he had the will a mind in that instance while facing a shot to knock the post off it's moorings.
If this is Ryan Miller, Roberto Luongo, Carey Price etc. etc. etc. Then people aren't saying nearly as much. |

I didn't see the Brown knee on knee, was driving to work. Interested in seeing how bad it was. Heard he didn't get much playing time after that though. |

Still waiting on a replay of sorts or a better still frame. It looked questionable AT FIRST GLANCE is all I will say. Eager to see if any video comes out.

Don't see how you come to that conclusion. Replay shows he was trying to make a save. It came off ever so slightly that I can't begin to believe Quick planned on that. When he has knocked nets off in the past and he realizes it he stops play. He kept playing like it was on. Why would he do that if it was all purposeful?
I guess I just don't see Quick as the criminal mastermind that many do. |

Yeah it is getting old watching him be such a turd. He makes a bad play loses the puck and takes a terrible penalty.
I miss it when Brown actaually used his speed to score goals. How long has it been? |

Pay no one any mind that thinks it was on purpose. It does not matter even if it were done on purpose.
I recall Russia getting a call where none needed to be called.
What is real however is that USA won. |

DVRed the game and took a look. I dunno, hard to tell to be honest, I don't see anything crazy and it happened so fast.
When I have more time I'll watch the game from that point on and see if Brown was benched after that or what. Seemed that he was with Callahan before the penalty so they may have just reduced the lines as the game got closer to the end.
I dunno. I think people are overreacting because of his reputation, but it didn't seem blatant to me. |

I dont know about that. As a leafs fan, id be all over price. Seriously though its being blown up because voynov accused him. Any accusation gets blown up nowadays especially from a teammate. |

I think this was probably Browns worst hit because it is the only one that is without a doubt knee on knee.
His hit on Roszival was mainly shoulder contact. The hit on Hertl was actually Browns back leg and Hertl's leading knee. The accidentally on purpose Luongo nonsense was just that nonsense.
I still don't think Brown is a dirty player on the level of Raffi Torres or Matt Cooke. When you are top 5 in hits every year in your career your bound to have a couple head scratchers. Dustin Brown has been suspended once in his entire career. That being said I watched it a few times and its a bad hit. It was a cheap shot.
Quick knocked the net off well before the puck was even moved to the point so it doesn't make sense to me that people are saying he pushed it off on purpose. Weird how personal some Sabres fans are taking it that Miller is not the starter. |

Do you have a better angle from what NBC showed? They hardly showed the hit at all, it seemed so fast, and it doesn't seem like much of an extension. They only showed the replay once from what I've seen, so it doesn't seem like they thought it was as bad as some are making it out to be (or is it just because it's Team USA?). I've watched it slow motion from the live feed and the one replay they showed probably 30 times now.
The way he leans into the hit would seem that he wasn't trying to knee him though. Again I don't really see any extension, he's leading with that knee, but he was turning into him after going around another Russian player. The hit seems a little awkward, but he's definitely in that wide stance well before the hit, almost looks like he's trying to make himself as big as possible to stop the potential rush, while still being able to move left or right, as well as break up any passes, since he holds his stick out to his left in the path of #41 for Russia. He makes contact with his shoulders at the same time as well. Doesn't look like he's trying to lead with his knee to hurt someone. It would be a pretty weak knee if that was his goal.
I dunno, I'm not a fan of the hit but I don't think it's as bad as some people are making it out to me. The way some are talking it's like he was hunting for someone out there. It's a knee on knee for sure, as for intent though, I dunno, I don't really see it.
Regardless, it seems that Brown didn't get a shift after that (although Oshie didn't get any shifts then either) so it would appear Bylsma wasn't a fan of the penalty either, or maybe it was just the way he shortened the bench as the time went down. Kesler didn't get many shifts after the PK, neither did a few others, so it's hard to tell. How the lines shake out tomorrow may be more of an indication of if he's upset or not.
*Edit* Brown was delegated to a lesser role earlier in the game, 4:29 TOI in the first, 2:54 in the second and 2:19 in the third (0 in OT)... Only 14 shifts total, which was near the bottom, but he wasn't the lowest, and 7 other players didn't take a shift in OT, while Stastny was on the ice for only 6 seconds (so essentially 8.
Think that he just shortened the bench, was probably more pissed about the turnover than the hit, it was pretty bad. Hopefully he plays better tomorrow though. |

I am a huge Dustin Brown fan. I love the guy. Just as you I replayed the DVR multiple times and at real speed, its definitely knee on knee. Was he trying to injure, NO WAY. My take is you are taught in pee-wee, mite and midget that you are responsible for your body. You are responsible for your stick. Despite what Brian Hayward may say.
I was just reiterating that I don't feel Brown is a dirty player. I don't think he is a predator like Garry Galley may suggest. I think he tows the line and from time to time he's bound to get a couple borderline hits in a game that moves as fast as this level of hockey does. |
