Overall I was pleased with how the team played tonight. It wasn't too pretty, but to get a point in that fashion against an elite team without Z was good. I was super impressed with Hamkowski, they looked dynamite out there together. Which brings me to my main point... PLEASE dont trade Bart. He seems to be getting better every game and you just dont find defensemen with that kind of skating ability. If he and dougie continue to work well together, I could see that being the regular second pairing next season, with chara/Seidenberg and Krug/miller. Leaving Boychuk out. Not a deadline deal of course but maybe in the offseason. Nothing against boychuk, I love the guy, that's just how I see things. They could get some great youth sending him to a team like the avs or islanders. I think dougie is really earning some extra responsibility this year and depending on how he looks come playoffs could be ready to usurp boychuk as d man #3. I guess that's just my 2 cents on the d as of now, but I really doubt (unless they're getting daley, A Mac or Girardi) that they'll find a rental worth moving Bart for.

Quick question though... is there a reason Morrow hasn't been brought up at all? Warsofsky wasn't very good tonight, and I dont like having both he and Krug in the lineup. I was under the impression Morrow was pretty much NHL ready last season when the pens first traded him. Was he over-hyped or is he just not ready?

I just have to ask, as a huge fan of sobotka, and what he brings to this team (blues), what was he when he was here? I don't really think the Blues even valued him as much as they should've initially; but he grew into his role. I watch the game tonight and wonder what he could be doing for your team now. (I realize he wasn't playing due to injury) I feel like he was sent off to the "island of mis-fit toys" at an early stage and we (the Blues) capitalized. I'm just so curious why Boston would have wanted rid of him, especially at that age.

pretty much was a get under the opponents skin type of guy, except he wasn't really a point scorer. I liked him, was hard nosed and was always playing bigger than he is, but the bruins obviously didn't see his career growing much so they moved him for a "puck moving defensemen" who they obviously felt good about, considering he played in the area prior to being drafted. Wait and see approach on warsofsky but I don't hate what I see so far.

that game winner was such a fluke goal anyway, not gonna hold it against soderberg, though he played a great game overall. Would like to see the effort Looch gave in the third for a whole game once in a while. It almost looked like he had wheels, and I don't want to even talk about the refs.

Despite coughing up the puck for the game winner, I thought Soderberg created more chances than any forward out there. St Louis is a hell of a squad and has just as good a chance as any to win the cup this year. The Bs matched their intensity last night and I thought played a pretty damn good game considering they were without Chara.
Trade Boychuk? I hear where your coming from with all the young talent the Bs have right now. But it is tough to find what Boychuk brings to the table. He was a beast against Vancouver. Chiarelli has some real tough decisions to make and it think McQuaid is on his way out, which is really too bad.

Bs controlled the game but couldn't finish and Tuukka let in beach balls from 60 ft. He should have left early for Sochi with Z and I hope the former's toilet doesn't work over there.

Only missed Z twice... On the pp and on the ot goal when Warsofsky was on the ice with three forwards. Tuukka should have had that one too.

Didn't know Oshie was a tough guy from the Orpik / Miracle Max mold. Screw Teams USA and Suomi.

Bs played at a different speed in the third period.

Another gem from Tim Peel who's going to Sochi. Had to listen to the Blues feed where Darren Pang (worse than Pierre) defended every call and non call. They kept scrolling Z was carrying the flag for Slovenia.

Halak was pretty huge for us last night. Im not the biggest Halak fan myself, but if he played like he did last night 2/3 of the games we play him, I'd be stoked.
Sobotka has really turned into a powerhouse presence for us too over the past couple seasons. We definitely notice when he's on the ice, and even more so when he's not.

Awesome game overall.

Believe me, Im perfectly aware of how outrageous moving Boychuk sounds. I would like to reiterate I wouldn't want it to happen anytime soon... I just don't want to see them move Bart for a rental and have him develop into Duncan Keith type D man (not a definite, but I think he could). Like I said, that skating ability is world class. You just don't find that often, especially in a d man that can play solid defense and isn't afraid to block shots or take the body. The more I see bart play in the top 4, the more I think he could actually be in the lineup for playoffs. If he and Dougie can continue to play like that together, you could potentially have Boychuk and Chara as your top shutdown pair. That's not a big drop off from chard/seids. There is obviously huge risk in going that route, so I would be happy to see them nab a decent vet on the cheap for insurance. I just think it would be a huge mistake to trade bart at the deadline.

Also, why u hate tuukka so much yinzer? Sorry he got beat on a good shot by one of the best shooters in the NHL. Second goal there was a screen, and another dart by another very good shooter. It's not like reaves and lapiere were pickin him apart (btw st. Louis fans, reaves is a beast. I want him to replace thornton when he retires). Last goal was just a gross fluke. Tuukka was there but the puck was bouncing and managed to get over his pad. Could he have stopped one or two of those? Definitely, but he was by no means bad that game

For $7M, Tuukka needs to better than the guy making $600K and that's not the case right now. I thought he turned it around after beating a depleted Queens squad, but I was wrong.

Wow, "worse than Pierre!" That's rough. I've enjoyed him since he came to the Lou.

I thought the B's played a great game and only struggled defending the counter attack in the first two periods. Mainly controlled the third with some great work by Lucic. Iginla should've bared down and buried his OT chance.

Oh, and even though Halak has outplayed Tuuka in both games with the B's this season, we will trade you straight up.

First goal was a routine save IMO. No screen, Rask way out of the net, 1/2 a windup from Steen. The second goal I can't blame him for, the third goal was a mistake by Soderbwrg but if Johnson let that OT goal in the next Ty blog would have been how Johnson was playing well but he totally blew a great comeback effort by the team.

IMO, Rask has been letting in at least one soft goal in a lot of games. Doesn't really matter matter against most teams but vs the Blues and in the playoffs it is a problem.

It's usually one soft goal early in the game. Almost like he needs one past him to focus.

Yeti coughed it up but why was Warsofsky on the ice in ot with three forwards? Iggy should have stuffed home the winner anyway.

So Kevan Miller is a total beast. Not that we didn't already know but it still blows me away. All the young D are playing exceptionally again. Chad looks solid. Soderberg continues to make a case for best 3C in the league, and team Sweden for that matter, are there any open spots left? Love when the whole team shows up like that, hope it continues for the rest of the game

Team Sweden was not happy with Soderberg going to Boston last year when he did and it almost certainly affected his standing with them. I'm 95% sure Sweden reps actually said he may not be picked for the national team again because he went to the NHL when he did.
