I think he gets moved and will be an excellent addition for a contending team.

He hasn't even been asked if he will waive his NTC has he? How can they shop him?

Trade him, that way Predator players will actually get a few tape to tape passes from him every time he plays against 'em

In all seriousness I hope the sentimentality of making the franchise's first draft pick a career player doesn't get in the way if a good deal is there for the taking. However, I don't see there being enough of a market for him to generate enough of a return.

Now that Detroit is in the East, I'd be happy to see him play for the Wings.

"Home" is relative at this point. Keep in mind that he's lived in Nashville for 15 of his 33 years. That's crazy to type.

I'm ready for the curtain to come down on the Legwand/Erat era once and for all. His value is as high as it's ever going to be. We need to move on and let some of the other guys like Wilson or Smith play their natural position at Center.

So you know this how? I'm w/ Predaceous. It seemed reasonably clear before the season started, by comments regarding Leggy, their intent was not re-signing him. If that's true he must be moved if he waives. Doesn't matter what is gained in return.

I can't believe he's 33 years old. Wow does the time go fast.

There is nothing curious about this case, Paul. Legwand is 33 years old. Put aside that he is on his second best pace for points in his career...in a contract year no less. Legwand is 33 years old and unless your name is Selanne, Lemieux, or Jagr hitting the age of 33 means only one thing in the NHL...you are on the decline. Sure he could have a decent year or two left, but inevitably he will not be worth the final contract he plays out.

The Preds should sell while his value is decently high. I have no illusion that they get a huge package for him, but losing him for nothing shouldn't be a option.

So realistically, what is his likely return? Second in an average draft year? A first and a bust AHL or "Cap move" contract? In this environment for a playoff ready guy who can create a contender with three scoring lines and is our current points leader, what would we likely get for this UFA?

I'm dubious of the fact that Legwand's best years came in contract seasons. If he doesn't want to give the Preds a hometown discount he needs to go. The Preds can't afford to overspend on him when his production will likely go down after this season.

The whole "this is going to be an average draft year" speak is so overrated. There are always players to be had in every draft. The determinant is always if the GM can find them.

I am fine if the Preds get a first+ for Legwand...and any other Preds fan should be. He is past his prime and will most likely look to get overpaid. I do not want to see the Preds overpay for a borderline 2/3 line center...they already have too many of those on the roster.
