I could see something like Miller + McCabe/McNabb + one of our 2nds for Kuznetsov. They need pretty darned close to an nhl ready defenseman with jam and our 2nd will be close enough to a 1st depending on which one we trade. Probably not going to happen but getting one of the wonder twins from the 2011 WJC gold medal team would be pretty great.

I'm so tired of hearing about Vanek. The fact is, the guy was an over-payed goal-scorer whose best seasons came almost happened 5 years ago. He was constantly injured, showed almost no leadership ability, and wasn't any kind of "franchise" player. The guy was just a cherry picker.

Then he whines about not wanting to be around in Buffalo for a rebuild, and now everyone is rooting for him to be reunited with Pomminville? Who cares what happens to this guy.

At what point do we, as fans, call it quits on cheering guys on who just hop from team to team in search for the Cup? I laud them for wanting to win, but doesn't that cheapen everything else about this sport? Winning the Cup doesn't feel as special any more when you have teams trying to cobble together these fantasy rosters so they can make one last push before losing everyone via FA. Winning is great, but what happened to wanting to win with the team that drafted you, and took a chance on you, and the fans who paid thousands of dollars to watch you play 3-4 nights a week?

Look at someone like Miller. He's a top 3 goalie on the planet, and he's still playing his heart out on the worst team in the league. Doesn't complain, or put on a puss about losing his teammates - he just goes out there and does his job. That's someone who deserves a Cup wherever he goes. Not guys like Vanek, who think that they can just hop around looking for an easy win.

I don't know why you would cheer for Vanek anymore as a Saber's fan. He is no longer with your team, regardless of the "whys" he's not a Saber. Same reason I don't cheer for Marian Gaborik anymore. Just wish them luck and I hope my team beats theirs.

I wasn't a Vanek fan while he was here, the only thing interesting for Sabres fans is the trade deadline and it will be interesting to see who gets dealt and for what around the league including Vanek. Besides that, good luck to Vanek and it was frustrating while you were here. Those 4 1st round picks from Edmonton sure would have been nice, but it could have kept Darcy here so it's a bit of a wash.

That's exactly what I'm saying. It baffles me why Buffalo media still tracks this guy. He's an overrated player who is going to make why more than he should. I just pray Minnesota doesn't sign him. He shouldn't get exactly what he wants - that's reserved for the guys with character.

Garth isn't a Sabres blogger though, he is in the NHL corner or whatever it's called, and it's well within his rights to talk aboot any team he wishes (as long as it comes back to the sabres or one of their ex players).
