Nice thing to wake up to. Glad I decided to TiVo when I retired. It's nice when they decide to play 60.

I didn't see the third period, but from what I did see, they carried the play. Every tam is going to have breakdowns and bad games. And no player is going to make the right decision 100% of the time. But if they play like they have been over the last 4 games, they're at least a team that no one should look forward to playing against. They aren't a Stanley Cup contender, but they won't be an easy team to play against either.

Watched the first but just couldn't stay awake. Glad I can Gamecenter the third and catch highlights at least. Good to hear they played well overall the entire game, and didn't let the 1-2 deficit after the first period get them down. Definitely encouraging signs the past several games.

I am a bit tired this morning but the team rewarded me for staying up for the whole game by turning in perhaps their best effort since the 5-0 whitewash of Ottawa earlier in the season. They need that same level of effort for the final two pre-olympic games after which they can rest-up for the homestretch.

Very impressed with the win last night and the overall road trip. So many players had good games last night, but the defense, in particular, was excellent.

Grossmann and Coburn did yeoman's work as the shutdown pairing. Gus and Schenn look to be developing good chemistry together. Gus has been excellent at creating scoring chances. Almost had a goal last night. Streit added a PP tally and Mez didn't do anything to make me roll my eyes. Overall, a solid effort.

I only got 4 hours of sleeps, but the win makes it seem worth it and will help me get through the day. That and lots of coffee.

I was very pleased to see they won. Only watched the first and it wasn't looking good. Funny thing, the last time they won in San Jose I was at the game lol. Didn't realize it until it was brought up over and over last night.

I don't think they had beaten the Sharks since 2001 or something like that. I know they hadnt won in San Jose since the 90s

They last beat them in 2000, last in SJ was 1999...I believe.

What are people's thought on extending:

Downie (UFA)
B. Schenn (RFA)
Raffl (RFA)
Hall (UFA)
Kimmo (UFA)
Mez (UFA)
Gus (RFA)
Gill (UFA)
Emery (UFA)

Which would you keep, and what would your offer be?

Spot on Bill. Excellent review.

Really nice game all around.
Sharks had only lost 3 games at home all season.

Gus needs to play.
He is making the most of his opportunity which is great to see.

Love how Berube is using his forwards.

Simmonds with the most ice time over 18 minutes (for the forwards) and deservedly so.

Yep, I am happy to be tired after that - and glad to take down whatever extra coffee the brain deems necessary.

I remember the game vividly. Flyers won 3 1 and Lindros scored. Jvb played goal. I went down to ice level for warmups and watched Lindros and Leclair close up. Amazing.

Set the DVR during the 2nd intermission, but knew I was never gonna fall asleep til after the game. That early 3rd period barrage gave me all the adrenaline I needed to watch the rest. Big win.

So when Kimmo is fit I think it makes sense for him to replace Meszaros and leave those two pairings together. I'm in no rush to see the Grossmann-Streit pairing out there again.

I'd also leave Streit on the top PP unit. He's now on pace for his usual 40 points.

Downie (UFA) - Trade him at the deadline for a pick
B. Schenn (RFA) - 2 years at $3m
Raffl (RFA) - 2 years at $1.1m
Hall (UFA) - 1 year $750K
Kimmo (UFA) - I think he's ready to retire, if not I'd consider 1 year $4m
Mez (UFA) - Trade for a pick at the deadline (Maybe Boston so he can play with Chara some more)
Gus (RFA) - 2 years at $1.2m
Gill (UFA) - See ya
Emery (UFA) - Thanks for the memories Ray, but there are a dozen better backup goalies who make half your salary

I didn't see the game but I like what I'm hearing as far as how they played. We've seen it all Season. When the Flyers are up on their skates and moving their feet, they are not a slow team, and they can compete with anybody. But they often don't move their feet and play slow far too often. If anyone can figure out why that is, let me know. But it is team wide when it happens, so it's not because they have players that are too slow. You can play fast, or play slow.
