Glad to see some Capital presence for a change. Next time you post, I'm hoping that you'll be giving the eulogy of George McPhee, former GM of this train wreck.

Gotta chime in here to agree that it's nice to see some on the Capitals. Too bad this team has really lost it this year. I almost agree with the guy above. If the losing streak continue into the double digits then Oates has to be gone. He's lost the players. The other coaches are just as uninspiring.

You can blame Oates all you want, but the problem isn't him. The blame goes to #1) GMGM for assembling this mess and #2) To the so called "core players".

McPhee's desperation move of acquiring Erat will never be forgotten. That move almost seemed to suck an remaining life out of the team once Erat's agent made his trade demand public. Neuvy & Orlov both jumped on that bus and the descent began. Trading Forsberg might go down as one of the top 3 blunders in team history. McPhool needs to go.

As far as I'm concerned, a team's captain is the one guy who should right the ship. Ovechkin is a great player, but he was never captain material and I partly blame his lack of leadership for this season's failures. It's not a matter of simply stripping him of a letter on his chest. I'd look to move him for as much as possible either before the deadline or this summer. Will it happen? Probably not and that's why the Capitals will continue to dwell in mediocrity.

oates is not a very good coach. But GMGM should be the first out the door.

People here know my opinion on Ovi already. Glorified finisher. Not the type of player you build a team around.

I don't buy into the notion that Oates is part of the problem. The problems with the team have been prevelant since they were swept by Tampa in the 2nd round of the 2010-11 playoffs. Boudreau took the heat when McPhee fired him in 2011. GMGM cannot place the blame on another coach this time. It would be a shame to see Oates rehired to have the same success like Bruce is having in Anaheim.

I'm not too sure about Blaine Forsythe as assistant. He has no playing experience beyond Division II NCAA. He seems to be the one setting up offensive zone plays most of the time. Common sense tells me a guy like Haviland or Kitchen would have been great instead of Forsythe, but hey, I'm just speculating. Calle Johansson? The defense hasn't been good, but can you place all of the blame on him given the players McPhee gave him to work with?

Oates is not a good hockey coach, and is certainly not Bruce Boudreau. Good assistant coach. I agree about Forsythe as well. CalleJo is also not a very good hockey coach.
