Travis Yost: A Lot and a Little - Travis Yost
Travis, don't sell yourself short... you're not just "some blogger", you've got an official title of "some random useless blogger" from none other than Mr. Melnyk himself!
EDIT: Seriously though, any chance we can improve our chances of a playoff spot by having the entire devils team drug tested after that beatdown of St. Louis? |

Quick question... I know you mentioned that the Rangers are nearing a shoe-in for the playoffs, but how do you see Columbus' chances? Are they riding unsustainable averages too, or do they seem legit?
Just caught a bit of their last couple games, but they actually seem to be seriously outplaying their competition these last few days and I've always felt that Jarmo Kekelainen was an amazing talent evaluator and was going to be a very underrated GM when he started. |

Welp, Toronto's up 4-0. Safe to say we aren't getting any help whatsoever from anybody else. |

Good to get the win... but damn, everyone we are trying to catch won or is winning. I figured TO was due for a loss and they are currently up 4-0! We need them to go on a slide so that both wildcard spots are up for grabs. |

If that's the case and both the Rangers and Columbus manage to jump into the mix, who are the most likely to drop out? Toronto seems to be the exception to the rule and is showing it again tonight. Montreal really doesn't seem that impressive and I have no idea what to make of Philadelphia. |

Leafs games until Olympics: @COL @DAL @WIN TB@TOR FLA@TOR OTT@TOR TOR@FLA TOR@TB VAN@TOR
Sens games until Olympics: OTT@TB OTT@CAR OTT@CBJ TB@OTT OTT@TOR OTT@PIT OTT@STL BUF@OTT OTT@BOS
Devils games until Olympics:WAS@NJ NYR@NJ NJ@STL NJ@DAL NJ@NSH COL@NJ EDM@NJ NJ@WSH
Blue Jackets games until Olympics: PHI, BUF, CAR, OTT, WAS, FLA, ANA, LA, SJ
Sens fans should watch at least 5 teams the next few weeks: Toronto, NJ, CBJ, DET, WAS...
Standings [as of Jan 23]
7 Toronto-- 59 PTS -- 30 games remaining
8 Columbus-- 54 PTS -- 33 GR
------------------------------
9 Ottawa----- 53 PTS 32 GR
10 New Jersey-- 53 PTS 31 GR
11 Detroit---- 52 PTS 33 GR
12 Washington-- 52 PTS 32 GR
Right now one of these teams needs to fall very soon: TOR, MTL, NYR, PHI...OR the Sens are competing with 5 teams for that one spot.

Moulson could fetch another first at least at the deadline.
Dont think Sabres will be giving up a a first (even NYI) at this point, they need to stay the course. |

Damn right.
Possession stats are good when you're riding possession.. look at Kes's goal tonight; 3 seconds of zone time on the rush and it's in. The Leafs poop on Corsi because they hit on the break before the opponent has a chance to get their D set up. That also leads to lower O-zone time.
It's not unsustainable per se, it's just different. |

to me the thing with the leafs is, it's either going great...or it's a total disaster...that's what makes it an adventure with the leafs...you have no idea what is going to happen...it's the weirdest and most unpredictable team... |

Two questions after tonight's game:
1) How the hell do all the bubble teams keep winning so consistently?
2) Seems the East is taking a lot more points from the West over the last couple of weeks than what was seen earlier this season. Anyone have a potential explanation? My theory is the added travel burden is starting to catch up to some of the western teams, and it's now starting to show. |

It's called posturing. I'll take Cowen over Kadri still today
Jason Spezza has 32 points in 44 games this season. I personally feel he's about to go on a hot streak but irregardless, he's turning 31 this summer, is UFA next summer, and I've already stated many times how I think he should be traded. The truth is that on a cup contender I don't know if Turris, Spezza, or Zibanejad are or will be #1 center. Turris is certainly the best out of the three right now but if Spezza was traded another center could come in as a 2-3 [and Lazar is coming soon)
Nazem Kadri 32 points in 48 games (and he's having a VERY disappointing year). He's the kind of center Ottawa should target [with more character. I think his pest behaviour will need to go from his game]. A young center that has plenty of upside. |

I don't understand why Ottawa would rid themselves of assets for yet another center. Let alone one that is named Nazem Kadri. This isnt NHL 14.
Thanks for playing guy! |
