I've heard Garrioch makes his rumors up.

Would love Dubinksy on the Oilers. Exactly the type of Centre we need.

Some of what he has reported sounds plausible yet other rumors do not. It's hard to say. There are probably hundreds of trade and free agent discussions that go on to some degree at some levels of teams' front offices that go unreported and would probably sound nuts if we heard them. For example, I'm not sure anyone had Gaborik to Columbus at the deadline last year until it happened.

As for Dubinsky to Edmonton, he is exactly the type of player they could use. Someone who can impact all three zones, competently fill a top-six role in limited duty and adds some toughness. There probably several teams that could us that player.

Glen, what would you think about Dubi doing a 2nd go around in NY? Does he have lingering issues about the trade? Seems like the times hes played us this year, he has been on a mission fueled by hate.

I think he feels like the organization turned their back on him and he is hell bent on proving them wrong every chance he gets. I'm not sure how he divides the blame in his mind but undoubtedly Dubi holds Torts responsible at least in part. As for his former teammates, I'd guess they would all be supportive and I get the sense Dubi still has friends on the team.

If I had to guess I'd say the chances of Dubi going back to Manhattan will depend greatly on what the Rangers do next summer. They have a lot of free agents and they will need to add help up front. If they miss out on some of their other targeted players they could circle back and consider Dubi.

Ditto. He looks like a totally different guy than the one that played the last season in NY. I would love to see this version back in NYR blue.

The questions become: 1) What does NY give up and 2) Where does he fit in?

Only players that come to mind to go the other way are Brassard and Dorsett (define: irony) so I don't know that the Rangers have the pieces to offer in exchange. MDZ for Dubinsky? I don't know if that is a good idea either. I would gladly ship Richards out in exchange but I don't think Columbus wants any part of that deal.

Garrioch is a moron and hates everything that the blue jackets do ( noticed that over the years), this makes no sense, once Gabby is off the books pretty sure Keka will be thinking of keeping Duby, he's an important asset on the PK and brings character to a franchise that lacked some for the last decade.

Edit:I say JJ should move on, worst case scenario.

Here I thought I was clever avoiding the obvious aliases like Smith or Jones and going with Miller. You got me.

I don't read all of his stuff but I haven't sensed anything from Garrioch's writing that suggests a bias against the Blue Jackets.

Dubi's actual salary next year is slated to be $4.65MM and if the Jackets have an internal salary cap of say between $60 - $65MM, there going to have to be judicious how the spend the $8 - $13MM they currently have available for next year's team. If they go sign a veteran scoring forward for $5MM, re-sign McElhinney for around $1MM they'll still have a couple of bottom-six forwards and a defender or two to add and not necessarily a whole lot of money to do it. Plus they need to extend Johansen and with how he is playing he could do quite well.

Again, it may not be cap space they are looking to save on; it could be actual cash they are looking to cut from the books.

If it's a salary problem then Kekka needs to adjust the cash flow that's where the asstistant gm comes in, they will simply sign say Johanson and Machelhinny to lesser money next year and compensate for it the year after ( respecting the cba salary % in that matter)

Love Dubi. The only negative about him is his contract although years on it are negligible at this point. He is a solid forward who plays hard every night and stands up for his teammates. I would love to see him back on the Rangers but I'm not sure if he could crack the top 6 and at 4.2 mil, he can't be a 3rd line guy which is why we dealt him in the first place. However, he is back to putting up points. With Richards a likely and deserved buyout, I'd love to bring Dubi back home.

Aaron Portzline was asked about the possibility of trading Dubi on twitter today. He said they aren't trying to trade him. Didn't say he was untouchable, but said they aren't trying to deal him, and referred to him as a heart and soul player. I really doubt he would get moved.

So what exactly is the value in trade? Gagner, Gernat and a 3rd?
