O'Reilly has been great in Colorado ... They can get more than gardiner if they wanted to move him

That is a good deal for Toronto. Gardiner is overrated, always has been since his arrival in TO.

Buffalo should make that deal all day. Enroth for Gagner? Are you kidding me? Enroth will never be more than what he is - a backup.

I really don't put much stock into these rumours, but you never know I suppose...

Habs can't be in it. I'm assuming the Habs are offering Beaulieu +. They want a puck moving D that can help now. I don't think Beaulieu is ready and whatelse do they have to offer that is interesting to the Avs.

why would the leafs want someone that will want 6.5M next year as a QO and is not really an upgrade on bozak. maybe he supplants kadri as line 2 C and shuffles to wing on the second line if needed, but i dont see the sense in it especially if giving up a prosepct along with gardiner.

if he could be resigned at less than bozak money, then sure, but if ROR expects QO money, leafs should stay away.

1% of rumors actually happen. EK is just reporting what he is hearing, rumblings.

No way they are moving O"Reilly, and they dont have to pay him more than Duchene.

One year's Salaray at 6.5m dosent mean he will make more on a long term contract. Get your facts straight. And O'Reilly is worth it, hes a stud and only getting better

I would rather have ROR than Bozak. But yes the money is a factor. He cannot make less than $5.5 going forward. Bozak has a very cap friendly salary.

O'Reilly wanted more than 5 mil for putting up 2nd-3rd line numbers. Gardiner would be lucky to get 3.5... so that trade doesn't make much sense to me. I see oreilly as a #2-3 center anyways..

depending on the year yes he can make less than 5.5. Base Salary next year needs to be matched at 6.5m, and with the rules of the CBA, 1st and last year of contract cant differ more than 50% and year to year no more than 30%.

You can do a long term deal with him (38m 7 year deal for example and it would all comply depending on how you do the year to years)

I agree, but the leafs likely wont trade away bozak, and he seems to keep sticking on the Kessel line, making him the de facto 1st Center. I would like to have ROR as C2, but the cost would have to be reasonable. then they can move kadri to the wing where i think he will be better suited.

Absolute perfect second line center to me. Would love to have him. But it still doesnt solve our glaring issue a #1 center.

Hes a 2nd line Center or a first line winger, he plays both and always top of the league when it comes to take aways. 60 points, strong on the draw, and a 2 way stud, whats not the to like. Who cares if he isnt a 80 pt producing center, does that make Bergeron any less valuable?

Not an upgrade on Bozak? Bozak plays on a great line, definitely helps him.

ROR would make a big impact as he provides ANOTHER centre. If Bozak is still the best fit for the top line then ROR makes the 2nd line very strong. A lot remains to be seen with Kadri.

From thesounds of it, Ottawa sun was reporting that no extention talks have begun bw the 2 and he might be leaning towards open market.

Avs apparently will move him if they get a 1st and a player for him.

That said, I want to keep Gardiner around.
