there is going to be another trade for the leafs

ideally we should have
phaneuf gunn
franson fraser
gleason riley / gards just for the offensive defensive mix... but both riley and gards need to be in the lineup to develop

I'd be happy with two games. Don't think he intended to injure, but Lupul needs to be more careful.

I think the cross-check to Kessel's ribs was just as bad or worse, the only real difference is that Lupul's stick hit the guys ear when he was bent over trying to tie his skates.

I didn't see the cc to Kessel. But you know they are going to throw Lupul under the bus since it did happen to Eaves' head. They are really trying to crack down on any head hits, regardless of the type of hit or extent of injury. Who got Kessel?

Cross checks to the ribs happen multiple times a game, every game. Cross checks to the neck are intent to injure

yes the optics of the head shot are the main focus for the NHL disciplinarians. I don't remember the player, but it was in the 2nd half of the 3rd. Kessel was down on the ice for 10 to 15 seconds and then hobbled to the bench bent over. Honestly don't think either play was that bad to require any extra discipline. The two minutes Lupul got, was enough. Det got away with what should have been a 2 min penalty as well, but it was late in the games, so refs might have whistles tucked down their pants to stay warm

this is when it suscks being a leafs player.... you know that anything questionable or close you are going to be suspended for GUARANTEED..
only leafs players are made as examples.

i didn't see if kindl's elbow actually made contact with lupul's head or not, but it sure looked like the intent was there and did he leave his feet? but - free pass
just like subban's slewfoot a month ago, or the dupuis slash that broke kelly's wrist, or nash's elbow, bissonette leaving the bench in pre-season....
all free passes, but a marginal crosscheck from a leafs player has 50 different media members calling for a suspension, just lovely.

to me they are the same act, an illegal play with intent to cause harm. I personally don't care what part of the body is involved, but the NHL does. I think both plays should have been 2 min cross checking penalties, and that is it.

Completely agree with the above but I think he should get 3 due to suspension history.

You forgot the Seidenberg forearm shiver to Bobby Ryan's face... CLEAR intial point of contact INTENTIONALLY to the head.

Or the Seidenberg hit to the head (D'Amigo?) the same game Phaneuf got suspended.

You forgot Chara ramming someone's(?) face into the boards earlier this year.

How about Tom Wilson taking like 8 strides to plaster Schenn into the boards.

I don't mind the League cracking down on the headshots and cheapshots. I don't think many Leafs fans mind that. It gets pretty fcuking irritating though when it seems like every single time a Leafs player does something questionable he's up for suspension and there are many examples of seemingly worse infractions not even getting reviewed.

Thanks, didn't remember that part. The refs were generally very good that game, though. Was happy they pretty much kept to themselves during the last part of regulation and OT.
