I wish we had Mike Babcock... Look at that outfit he's sporting. Deboer definitely wears clip-on ties.

Respect to the Devils.

I know DeBoer - like Bylsma - has his detractors, but if he coached the Pens...

Defense should have been a strength, but I do not see a steady group on the blueline. They seem like a group that will crack under pressure, especially when going up against talented teams like Canada, Sweden or Russia.

They are going to tell everyone that this team is going to shut down guys and crap like that but on the big ice it should be about who can score more goals rather who can shut who down as there will be too much open space out there. I also think this team lacks so much talent that they are going to struggle they will need to rely heavily on goaltending. Their are obviously worse teams but I think they struggle this year especially if Miller or Quick falter. Be interested to see Canada's team and if they leave some notable guys off the team like USA did.

Between Faulk and Fowler there is 7 games of playoff experience, and Yandle has better numbers than both on a worse team. I don't see how you can leave him off for such inexperienced players. Orpik will get burned constantly on the international ice, Carlson and Martin are meh and McDonogh and Suter are the only two I really trust shutting down the worlds best. Leaving out Ryan and Okposo who are the two best producing forwards aside from Kane is terrible too, especially when you take two of the same player in Cally and Brown who are both having rough seasons. Only way US stands a chance is if Miller plays as good as Vancouver, and I'm not confident in that.

It's pathetic.

Faulk over Yandle?
Wheeler over Ryan?
Howard .. or Quick (who the heck knows what his deal has been this year).. over BISHOP?

Yandle would thrive with the larger ice surface. He's in the prime of his career. What has Faulk done? Unless I'm missing something, not much. He's been a member of one of the weaker D in the league, if I'm not mistaken. baffling.

so what is it?
McDonagh-Suter
Carlson-Shattenkirk
Martin-Orpik?

Faulk-Fowler? I just don't see Faulk as any better than Yandle on either end of the ice. What do you think the top 6 will ultimately be?

On another note, I didn't see Sundin in either alumni game.. ?

The 2nd alumni game was awesome. It was like traveling back in time to the late 90s Detroit Cup teams.. and Leaf playoff teams.
Holmstrom, Fedorov, Shanahan, Yzerman, Chelios, Fetisov, Lidstrom, Coffey, Draper, Ciccarelli, SLAVA KOZLOV lol, Maltby, Osgood, Legacy.. and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.
And then Toronto.. with Domi, Tucker, Andyrchuk (can never spell his name ), Nieuwendyk, Gilmour, Thomas, Corson, Roberts, Gartner, freaking McCabe, Potvin, CUJO, and good ol Brian Berard .. no Mogilny or Sundin.

what a lineup! That was great to watch and the goalies were pretty solid. They really got into it, great finish. Wish every alumni game was like that!

No clue. In my opinion you need two pairings that can shut down allstars and the US basically have two players that can. Martin with McD and Suter with Shattenkirk? Still don't really like either of those pairings going up against the best. The third pairing is a toss up as well. Fowler isn't the most responsible, Faulk is inexperienced, Carlson I guess should be in and I don't even know why orpik is going.

It also angers me the reasoning they give for some of the players. Howard makes it because of experience, yet the go with Fowler and Faulk over Yandle? And from what it sounds like Yandle wasn't even next in line, they were going to go with Jack Johnson. The same player who has never been a plus player in his career, never made it out of the first round, has a career high of 42 points (to yandle's 59) and is a disaster in his own zone. Then Burkie says he should have taken Johnson over Ryan in the 05 draft? (frank)in crazy. Maybe we should shop Zid around to these guys that picked that roster. He's essentially the same player as Johnson, maybe we could land Baertschi or Forsberg.

Apparently Ryan isn't intense enough either. Because when I think of guys like Pacioretty and Stepan the first thing that comes to mind is intensity. The team won't lose because they didn't bring enough 2 way players. THeir top four centers are all good on both sides of the puck. But we might lose because we dont have enough offense though. If we struggle out the gate will substituting Pacioretty for Wheeler or Stepan for Stastny really change anything? With the expanded rosters I don't understand how they left two of the best producing forwards out. End of my rant, and I'll gladly eat my words if they do well. But if they don't at least get silver I think the US need a completely different set of people picking this team.

Horrendous. I lost a lot of confidence in the team after seeing who made it. Too many mistakes. Why is Callahan on this team the guy has been hurt all (frank)ing year? Why are injured players making the team?

I agree with you 100% I think this team isn't even capable of bronze. Yandle being snubbed is probably the worst of all the snubs.

(frank)ing poop man. I almost want them to lose now just so the idiots involved in making these decisions will never be allowed to do it again. How the (frank) are both KO and Bobby Ryan not on this team? They have both been great this year...
