I agree with Ion... Leino does very little when he's on the ice, might as well make sure he qualifies at season's end for the compliance buyout. Personally, I think Leino has been mentally checked-out since his early days in Buffalo. I just don't think he's motivated to play here or at least give his all... reminds me of when Slava Kozlov came over in the Hasek trade and he clearly couldn't count down the days fast enough until his departure. I'd love if some team would take him now with the Sabres eating as much of his contract as possible per league rules, but I don't think any other team would want him even if the Sabres did that (let alone put him through waivers). How about that for a wake-up call for him... send him to Rochester and then bench him there so that he doesn't infect the young guys with his laissez faire attitude. Can't tell me he's trying hard when he doesn't even take shots on goal!
On a more positive note, I'd like to see Johan Larsson play alongside fellow Swede, Linus Omark. I was pleasantly surprised to see Nolan give Omark a chance on the shootout... and he nearly won the game on his turn. Otherwise, Omark has shown a very slow improvement (IMO)... but he's still new to the team and system. I haven't lost hope this early in the process, but I do hope to see him form some chemistry with some linemates soon. Foligno played better last night after looking sluggish in his first 2 games back since he had the flu... maybe that will help Omark, since Nolan plays them together quite often? We'll see... hopefully these guys can rebound from last night and put some pucks in the net against the Wild. |

At this point Ben Bishop should be the starter as he is clearly the best goaltender based on his play this year. Miller for sure and Quick is still a question mark despite him being on the team. That being said I am Canadian and would love to see Jimmy Howard go up against team Canada, he is not playing well, lol.
Re your Vanek comment I am sure the Isles are going to do their best to resign him even if they have to overpay. They gave up far too much for him to walk.If Snow does not get him signed and loses him he should be fired. |

The sample size for Bishop is way too small. He has yet to prove he can do it on the big stage. |

Bishop is playing well , but not as well over the last month as Miller . He should be named perhaps ahead of Howard . But They are looking for more experience in International competition and playoffs which Bishop does not have yet . I think he will be in the running for 2018 Olympics.
I think Vanek is going to Minnesota to keep the wife happy . They will have to overpay him big time to cover the divorce costs if he does not go to Minnesota. |

Slava Kozlov god I hated that dude still do.Leinos got a huge amount of talent but he reminds me of the Tiny Tim Connolly expirement here.Time to let him sit heal and trade him at the deadline. He could help a playoff team looking for someone who can dish the puck to its scoring wingers like when he had Briere. |

Just put Villie in the press box the rest of the season so he doesn't get hurt and then the buyout plan is jeopardized! - IonSabres
Heck Yes! But, What if he slips in the shower and cracks his skull? Are non-hockey injuries part of the non-buyout? |

1.) They have all the money they need to sign him, but he could still want to sign somewhere else, like Minnesota.
2.)They gave up a draft pick and Moulson for him. The pick is unfortunate, but not the end of the world and they could still sign Moulson back as he is a free agent. |

I know a compliance buy-out is off the table if he's injured, but can we buy him out normally if he's hurt? I think we should buy him out normally for the cap space hit. |
