This is stupid. So if Miller gets hurt we are going with two guys who have like you said been less than stellar and hurt for most of the season. Makes sense...

I have honestly never been that big of a fan of Howard. Yes that was pre Schneider to the Devils.

Big mistake not taking a guy who has been one of the top 3 goalies this year,
Ben Bishop has been a monster, at least give the kid the #3 spot so he can potentially be the go to guy next time...

It's a short tourny and the listed goalies have records of success in the playoffs. Schneider does not. I wish we had kept him over Lu but Schneider was terrible in the playoffs last year and has broken down as a backup. You pick your best guys who can get hot for 3-4 games and with that in mind it's hard to argue with those 3. If I'm building a team, I don't include Howard but in a short tourney I probably do.

Snubbed my ass. What's he ever done? If anything he's fourth behind what should be Ben Bishop. Jimmy Howard making the team this year is a joke, even though it's based on total body of work. In that perspective, the order should be Miller, Quick, Howard, Schneider, Bishop. I'm on the side of who's been the best recently. So then I'd go Miller, Bishop, Quick. I dunno.

Point is, Schneider 4th is more than fair.

Edit: Argument can be made whether Quick or Miller should start, based on 'total body of work'

If you bring any Goaltender because of his recent play, it's Ben Bishop.

Quick has been more than clutch in the playoffs and important games in the last few years, he was a lock to make this team with Miller.

I would have replaced Howard with Bishop, not Schneider.

Team USA will live and die with the play of Ryan Miller and as an American, I am totally fine with that.

Miller Time 2014.

No problem with Schneider not making the team, however I would have selected:

1. Miller 2. Quick and 3. Bishop (would've had Quick #1 but his injury status is uncertain at this point)

It's Miller's job to lose. It's Lu's job to lose. It's Lundqvist's job to lose.

The question is? Which of these three gets replaced first? If you're a Canadian or American fan you have pretty good options. If you're Swedish, you're screwed if Henrik brings his current game. Maybe you're allowed to wear the bigger pads in international hockey? If so, Henrik will regain form. If not, the Rangers might have a Bryz on their hands.

Miller by Quick?
Lu by Price?
Lundqvist by Lehner/Enroth/Backstrom/Fasth/Markstrom/The Monster/Lindback/Lack

I don't think Lundqvist or Miller will be replaced....

Luongo will need to be solid to keep Price from getting play time but I don't care who's in net as long as we win.

I doubt I'm being a homer by saying Enroth should be the prime backup.

If that's your thought process, Quick should be No. 5 or No. 6.

Very possible.

This being said, I doubt any goaltender can take Lundqvist's spot.

Yes you are. His numbers are terrible this year. Lehner's are better. Eddie Lack's are better and I'm not being a homer by saying The Stork should play.

Lehner's their #2. The Monster is probably #3.

I also expect The Monster to be there.... especially since he's had alot of success in the Swedish league before coming in the NHL so they know him very well.

He's been solid for Detroit this year.
