Bryz was being Bryz.
Can look very good but tosses his stick when the going gets tough.

Very nice having Downie back and I thought Mez had a solid game.
Streit really had a terrible first half of the game but bounced back a bit.
93 and 28 look very good right now, and nice to see Simmonds get rewarded as he brings the effort every shift.

Bill in the blog you wrote that G and Jake had a pair of goals, you meant to say assists.

Nice win on the road but it only gets harder now.
Van, Phoenix, and Colorado are all quality teams.

I might throw my stick up in the air too with 3 #1 picks on my squad getting dominated and outshot 38-16.

Good morning, nice win to start the road trip. Bryz played the way he plays, he was good, very good at times, just didnt make that one save. With that said, the Oilers D and team D is atrocious. They are a nice collection of young forward talent, but have no idea how to play.

Great to gt the trip started with a win!!!! The games get harder from here on out

"G" is almost at a PPG

They did play very well after the first, closing up the middle, as Edmonton, with all that speed could have made this look like the Dallas game

Why did they trade Mr Smid?
Ference is ok, made some nice plays last night.
Eakins has his hands full with them.

2 points to start a road trip is always a good thing. Flyers dominated the game, but glaring mistakes kept the Oilers in the game.

WTF was Luke Schenn doing with that spin-o-rama near the blueline in a tie game? Was he paying homage to Paul Coffey since the game was in Edmonton. It really is stunning how bad he is.

Bryz played well, but that stick tossing crap really epitomizes the guy. I like him, still, but man am I glad they used the CBO on him.

He's a really bad fit in Edmonton if he's going to be doing that sort of nonsense. Young team, last thing they need is a veteran acting like a jackass.

I think he picked that one up from Streit (who seems to attempt escape from every situation with a goofy little spin).

Bryzgalov committed too early against Raffl and the Austrian rookie moved to an open area and calmly deposited the winning goal into the net.

Kinda underselling Raffl's angle and rooftop shot a bit.

2 points is 2 points, and the Flyers needed them. Now it's time to focus on Vancouver.

PS - Coburn sucks. He's just absolutely horrible because he's big, fast, young, signed to a good cap hit for the next 2 seasons after this one, is durable, eats up a lot of minutes every game, and occasionally makes a mistake.

Coburn sucks.

Coburn is the best we have, this was really the only gaff (giveaway for a goal) that he's committed in quite a while, sadly, moving forward we have more inept fish to fry if we're going to progress with Luke & Streit.

The only time I like having Streit is when he's winding up for a slap shot. Other than that, I don't trust him or Schenn. Playing them together is just a disaster. Berube doesn't really have many options though.

I would, however, like to see Vinny return to the 2nd line and Downey return to the third line. There was so much mixing and matching last night. It was like Berube didn't want to insult Hartnell by putting him on the 4th line, but he's clearly the odd man out in 5 on 5 play.

Really good summation of the game...and the goalies.

Mason really has settled into a "I won't loose this game for us" mode at the moment. He is not 100% where he was positionally earlier in the season...but he seems to have gotten his mental game back to where it was. Even in Columbus when he struggled he was often the reason the team had a chance to be in games that they ultimately lost. As long as the team in front of him doesn't loose faith in him/stop skating he will keep them in the contest.

I was really taken by how fast the ice is in Edmonton and how surprised the announcers all seemed .... doesn't anyone else remember the old ice in Edmonton in the 80's? It was the fastest rink in the league. Best surface, best resurface after a period. If the league ever wanted to take a serious lesson from one building on how to do things it would be Edmonton's example on how to lay and maintain the ice surface. I am sure that at least some of this has to do with building use, but I am willing to bet that it also has to do with keeping the building temperature lower than other arenas to maintain the ice.

It was a bad move, especially if the ice was much faster than they were used to. And it looked like he got hooked a bit. But dancing across the blue line with the puck is typically a bad idea.

I honestly can't imagine how slow the D would be without Coburn.
He's the one player outside of Gusty who can skate.

He seems to get a lot of great scoring chances in OT, one of these days he will finish one.

It would have been a bad idea if Erik Karlsson was doing it. I think that puts it in perspective.

I think he may play Downie up and down the lineup some.
He looked good with G and Jake.

It seems like Schenn is pretty steady throughout the game, but will inevitably give up an odd man rush with a stupid play.

He's a very good complimentary player. I wouldn't be too upset to see him switch places with Raffl. I just don't understand why Berube would break up the two good lines we've had in order to keep Schenn's line intact.

By default, although Grossman, for his limitations, (lack of speed), has been a warrior, Kimmo has really been consistent after a slow start, & I like Gus's mobility in smaller minute role.
They can't tell Luke enough to just hit people & keep things as plain & simple as possible
