Matt Karash: Game #37: Half full? - Consolation point or Half empty? - another loss

Getting a point is decent, but the Canes' need to shore up the D. The R. Murphy point is very telling to me as well. On for three against and the OT goal was hard to watch. He doesn't take the body on any of the goals and it seems to me that teams see that also, and just skate around him.
Come on Chris Conner is 5 ft. nothing and skating around unmolested. To me that's also a coaching ( Kirk & Lewis) issue, as you need the right personnel out there at the right times. Still want to trade Gleason, I hope they don't. No need to get any softer on D, IMHO.

I agree on Murphy's growing pains ,but with the team's lack of scoring punch the need for help in the top 9 has really got intense along with the PP a basic non-factor ,and Gleason along with either Peter's or Dobby will be moved Imo when Dobby's conditioning stint is over.

I know for a fact that the STH are getting tired of the team losing at home ,and were last year as a close friend of mine is a STH ,and PK "assured" them last season that he was totally committed with putting a winning team on the ice ,and will do everything possible to get the results ,so Imo JR/Muller etc. is on the hot seat ,and a trade will happen soon maybe more at the deadline. Muller however can't make chicken salad out of chicken poope either.

The team simply cannot continue to lose 1 goal games if it wants to be a playoff team. Peters had the chance to get the win last night and failed. We have got to get more consistent goaltending to move forward. The Peters hot streak is over. For the most part our goaltending is killing us in OT. If we just win half of the OT games so far we are fighting with the Capitals for 2nd place and not even in the logjam for 3rd.
