Hi Pete, I'm starting to wonder if the reason there hasn't been a shake up.. is because we literally can't?

Is it possible for the majority of players to negotiate (not a no-move clause) but 2 or 3 teams that they cannot be traded to? Or is it no-move clause or nothing?

I think too many teams are so close to the salary cap this year that any major shake up in terms of a trade isn't likely to happen. Next year when the cap is going up teams will have more freedom. If the Jets are in the same position they are now when the trading deadline rolls around I could see Chevy pulling the trigger on a pretty major move to shake things up. There should be enough flexibility by then to make it work. The timing would be right to get the best return value from the assets he has available to move.

The cap issue is going to log jam every team but if Chevy put Kane on the market he'd have a line up of calls. There is always a way.

What is Kane's worth in a trade or once they fire the Coach this week he stays?

I remember watching a Calgary Flames exhibition in the 2003/04 season, the year they made their run to Cup. Byron Ritchie was a no name just trying to get a look from the Flames and some nobody on the other team took a run at him. Two nobodies in a meaningless game and who steps up? Jarome Iginla.

Now that is how a captain should be and on to the Cup final they went.

Last night I watch as the Stars take all sorts of liberties with Scheifele, as a lot of teams have done this year. No response. Now when I say response, I don't mean Ladd or other Little has to chase the guy down and fight him, but maybe get a little angry. Throw some hits, fight a little harder for pucks, take the guy's number and make it a long night for him. Play like you give a damn and the other team has just poked the hornet's nest.

And watch the goals start to come.

Instead, the leadership core just sat staring into space as Scheifele gets nailed over the bench (which was pretty funny btw) and they didn't fire a single chirp. They just sat there. At least character guy Stuart tried to level one of the offenders.

Now enter Peluso, who Noel only plays for 3 minutes a game, knows he has to do something to keep his spot on the roster. He takes a run at Goligoski, catches him the wrong way and the ensuing PP cost us the game.

The Jets lack cohesiveness. It's like they are a class society. The big money guys will stick up for each other, but leave the rest of janitorial work for the lowest paid guys on the team. Cohesiveness starts with the captain and filters down through all the ranks.

I wonder what Iginla would have done.
