Any word on whether they reconsider Monahan to the WJC?

I highly doubt it, Burke isnt new to the team and Im sure he had a lot to do with the original decision.

Have to say that game was one of the more enjoyable games to watch! What the Flames lack in elite skill they make up for with a blue collar work ethic. The Flames play the right way and are a fun team to watch.

At times last night the Flames just ground away in the Canes zone.. mostly in the 2nd. Nothing flashy but a puck support and cycle deep in the corners. They played with a physical edge and finished all their checks.

I personally though the Canes deserved a better fate and created some of the better scoring chances but Ramo made some nice saves. A few posts and a couple missed nets were the difference. Who can argue with a point on the road though.

Congrats Flames fans that was a treat to watch!

I believe it was Eric Francis that addressed that during the game last night. He asked Burke is there was any chance of Monahan going to the WJC and he said "no".

"The gist of the conversation was that Gaudreau needs to be ready in terms of his physicality and development as the prospect has a ton of talent but his transition to the NHL could be difficult given his size"

Where did you read/hear this? All I heard was that he called to re-assure that Gaudreau and Arnold are still part of the plan.

Yeah Ramo saved our a$$ in the third. Skinner almost won that game by himself.

Burke was asked about that and said NO he is not going to be made available.

Yeah, I reworded that a little, but was reading between the lines. He was saying they "still love him" but Im sure they also spoke on his NHL readyness which to me means physicality.

You know this pisses me of. I read on TSN an article about how Monahan might be available, why even write the article if it was a clear cut no. If you wrote the article before Burke said no then take it down after it's shot down. What does TSN think they are hockeybuzz?

So, Burke is 1-0 as the GM of the Flames so far.

I still can't believe Nurse isn't going to be there. Maybe someone gets hurt and they call him.

I wanted to see him there too, usually gives you a good idea how the kids are developing. But when it came to the Olympics from day one I was kinda hoping no Oiler makes them. What kind of fire would a Hall or Hemsky play with after the Olympics to try prove people that they made a mistake? I guess now I will have to hope the same applies to Nurse.

I wouldnt call that speculation lol...we all know that the main focus with respect to Gaudreau will be his size/physicality....the talent is there

And Burke said he had no problem with "smaller" talented forwards if they fit in his top 6.

That being said if Burke is confident that Gaudreau will sign I think the writing is on the wall for Baertschi.

I agree...Im willing to bet that one of Baer or Backlund is moved sometime in January.

Agreed! If I knew Gaudreau was signing I would move Baert and keep Backs. Backs is so responsible in the 2 zones Baert doesn't play in.

Cloutier is going to give hb a run for their money if he keeps hiring hot blonde women.
