Its almost like they play different when Quick is in net. I don't understand.

I think a lot of it was the defense taking a while to find their groove, then Quick not having a great start. When he went down it changed though, Regehr has been on a war path since then clearing everything out of the crease and corner, and the rest of the team woke up and started to pick up their defensive game. I think (read: hope) that will continue once Quick comes back.

Very interested to see what happens with Jones once JQ is back. If Sutter keeps playing him while keeping Scrivs is on the bench and he continues to dominate night in and night out, it's going to be hard to justify sending him back to the American league. Only answer is a trade. I guess we'll see how much faith management has in Joner when that time comes.

I read somewhere, maybe here from JL, that the kings are allowing an average of 10 less scoring chances per game than they did with quick. The D just put it together. Quick will look like the old quick in front of this D. But, man!, you can't deny that Jones is playing as good as anyone in the NHL right now

Some of the saves that kid made tonight were just nasty. Not taking anything away from the kings D, but 2 30 save efforts...id say its just a little skill with the goalie. Aside from that...anyone know why Jones gets the back to back nod??? Especially since scrivens has been nasty...and yes I do know Jones was working on back to back shutouts...

Scrivens is a little banged up right now. Also Sutter loves to ride a hot goalie, soon as Jones started winning and playing well it was inevitable.

The play of Jones reminds of quick in that historic cup run. He won't let anything in down low and follows the puck like its glowing in a dark room.
He plays calm, is a big, agile guy..........he seems to be the real McCoy. How was he not drafted?

I used to think Bernier was the most calm goaltender I had ever seen play but Jones seems to know exactly where he needs to be before the puck reaches him with minimal movement.

I hope this kid keeps it going.

If you watch the games you'll see that Scrivens lets in some weak goals. Its like he doesn't battle to see the puck when theres traffic in front of him. Don't let his numbers fool you the Defense played very well in front of him to where most of those saves were just routine. Honestly Scrivens doesn't win the games. Where the last three games the kings won them because of Jones.

Does he have to clear waivers if sent back down when Quick is back? In Carolina they have Ward, Khudobin and Peters and to send either of the latter two down they would have to clear waivers. I have been watching Jones for two years now and to me he is the best goalie in the AHL. Time to stay in the nhl.

Jones is waiver exempt still. He signed his contract at 18 years old so I believe (but could be wrong) he can play 80 games or 6 years whichever comes first until loses his waiver exempt status. At least that's how I remember it.

He's also an emergency call up, so he's clear either way.
