Quite the comeback. Always would like to think this is the start of something good, but with this team you never know.

I hope the top line can build on this and start producing at the rate they are compensated.

Really good signs of life from the Flyers last night with Hartnell and G scoring on some sweet shots, Read, Couts and Downie continuing their excellent play, and the PKers killing off all but 1 of those bad penalties.

Hopefully this is the same team - short the dumb penalties - that shows up on Friday.

The team surprised me last night. After taking so many penalties, I figured that they would do their usual lay down and sleep routine. However, thanks to Coots, and his line, the team still had life. I still believe that the team will continue to hover around .500 for the rest of the season. Mentally, I haven't seen a continued confidence or ability to push another team consistently for a full 60 minutes. They have the pieces to succeed on paper, but I question their ability to get it done on the ice.
Where do you think the team will stand at the end of the season based upon their current play Bill? Also, thanks for keeping the posts coming on a regular basis.

I cant figure this team out.

Love the win. Love Cooter!

Love the Flyers #1 line of Read, Downie and Cooter.

Nice to see the Hartnell pot one.

The powerplay paid back the Redwings for the game earlier in the year when the Redwings lit up the Flyers on the powerplay.

hoo-humm, just another high quality game from Mason.

Bill, did you ever do your prospect update?
Also, any word on a possible suspension for Morin?

when is the last time the flyers had a line that was not only shutting down the other teams' top lines but was also setting the pace for scoring?

It reminded me on a Pens game from (I believe) 11/12. They were trailing 2-0 at home after two, and were just getting bombarded with penalty after penalty. They came out in the 3rd and tied the game, and Hartnell won it with less than a second to go in OT.

Mike Richards' line pre-Carcillo in 09/10, I guess.

Great win last night, and nice job not letting the wheels fall off...But that was a lot of energy (high tempo) to get back in that game...I would say the feeling across the boards are that the team does not have the skill/speed guys needed to sustain that level of effort for 60 mins every night against the top tier teams..therefore, they are right where they should be..middle of the pack with some solid upside if they can put it together and make the playoffs...with mason and Razor both playing well, there might be enough parts to make a nice run, but i don't think they are going to run up the standings in the regular season...

12-18-22 was a very strong line.

Yes, did it on Thanksgiving, but will do another when game schedule isn't so packed.

Yes, Morin got suspended, although it's apparently a secret for how long, since the league didn't say how many games:

Don't know as of yet. He's listed as questionable for tonight's game against Toronto. Can never tell with suspected concussions.

I never wish ill will on anyone, but how lucky will it be for the Flyers if they end up missing Weber, Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Seguin on this road trip?

I, also, want to see Roussell drop the gloves with Rinaldo.

But 10-88-19 was dominating...

Last night we learned from Pierre that Giroux and Briere have the same "sweet spot" which apparently is anywhere in the offensive zone.

Leight?

There were times when it was the most dominating line I have ever seen.

We can qualify this win all we like, but a win is a win. No one weeps for the Flyers when they have a ton of injuries.

They seemed to skate more alertly and more fluidly in the 3rd period, which is the biggest positive (other than Couturier continuing his recent play) I take from this game.

I liked the comeback, the fact they won in Detroit, the power play, Steve Mason and Couturier's line. I did not like Giroux's line 5 on 5, the stupid penalties and Mezsaros.

Not sure why Giroux cannot do anything 5 on 5. All I know is I do not like it. Am I expecting too much of Giroux? I just want to see him making a difference on most 5 on 5 shifts.

Good win but still have a lot of work to do.

I was thinking about this and have a beer induced theory....

Maybe Giroux is trying to get Voracek going and sacrificing his own numbers to do so? Just a theory, because I feel like Giroux has been out there, by himself, during 5 on 5 play.

So, thoughts on re-signing Downie to keep the "3rd" line together for a few years? I think he's proven his worth, and that he's matured from his first stint here.

Since it appears the Flyers have 3 lines that are capable of scoring (w/ Vinny at 2nd line center) it makes me feel like eventually teams will have to cut the top line some slack to try and defend the other two, which I hope means G will start scoring more at 5v5. We'll see
