Cogliano and Boyd Deveraux were first line players. Being Omitted has no bearing on becoming an impact player |

I'm not saying we are a good team, but when we last beat Florida, the had just won their last 3 of 4 games. It's worth noting that those teams they did beat were Anaheim, Colorado, and Vancouver which are ranked 3rd, 5th, and 9th respectively.
This doesn't mean we are that good, but as much as people say "they win against other awful teams", which is true, the Panthers beat some top teams in the conference and we beat them so that's gotta mean something, right?!
Wishful thinking I suppose

Ryan Garner: Garner’s Gripes: Nurse Omission, Bryzgalov Injury - Ryan Garner
Its not just the ommision of Nurse that's at issue. Its the process that is being circumvented and some of the other inclusions are suspect at best. Will it matter to him? Maybe, maybe not. Still stinks.
And as for the play on Bryz. Not sure if you saw Eakins comments on it? He said and I agree, that it was just a guy going hard to the net and he fell and they came together. Just an unfortunate incident and they happen in hockey sometimes. Didn't think it was dirty at all. |

I'll say this. I'm glad with the fact that only a few players will be cut. Last yr it was very clear they had there team picked before camp started. By far the best defense man at camp and best goalie at camp were cut. I'm not saying they are or will be better then the other players at camp, however if you are clearly the best player at a selection camp and get cut, then they shouldn't have a selection camp |

For starters another goaltender. The two they took are "names" but don't have great numbers this year. Others like Tristan Jarry or Eric Comrie both have better numbers this year.
On forward: Why is Shinkaruk there? He's playing like crap and they say its because he's injured. If he's injured then he should not be there period. Gaunce, Brown (OHL leader), Poirier, Domi and more should get the chance.
On defence: You've got Griffin Reinhart still needing to serve another what 4 games of his previous suspension? So he wont get to play for the first week. Bigras? Really? What about Nurse, Morin etc?
These guys should all be going to camp and get a chance to practice and play in the system and then have the cuts as they usually do. |

I'll take Bigras. A super underrated player. Seen him play about 30 times. If he's not the best d man in the OHL, then he's in the top 3. |

Certainly seemed so.
At least it gave them an excuse to fall back on. These guys this year are hanging their hat on these selections and its gold or bust. If they don't win it, they will all be slaughtered... |

I was agreed with the camp before last yr. By far the best performing goalie and d man at camp were cut. I'd rather they not have a camp if they have their team picked before it starts |

As someone who has season tickets to the Attack, I'll say I've seen him play more then any of them. Guy is a stud. |

I disagree. Last yr looked far worse. They didn't win and the best players during the camp were cut. Last yr they couldn't say we thought our guys were better. It was pretty clear they were not |

Not that he shouldnt be there, just if you are going with OHL dman, I thought Nurse was ahead of him, dont get me wrong, Bigras is going to be a stud, he almost made the team based on his camp, but really no room for him no based on current contract situation so he waits till next season. |

Im aware you're saying this because you hate Nurse.
Bigras's 10 points and -5 sure makes him a stud. I think he's good, but others deserved to be there ahead of him.
A lot of Hockey writers didn't even have him in the running.... |

What I don't understand is; why didn't any of the Oilers players go and give Garbutt a little "talking to" for him running over Bryz? If Ference is willing to take other stupid penalties, he could have taken one to stand up for his goalie at that point. |

I'm not a nurse fan. And that goes back to way before the draft. Bigras numbers don't tell the story. I guessing you've seen very little of either player live. Lots of high ranked d men I don't like. Couple attack players. Jesse Blacker who I said will never be and NHL d man. And Cody CeCi. Who I think will be a 6/7 guy at best. Hell I've told canucks fans what I think of Jensen, of which isn't real popular. Bigras is a bigger version of Corrado. |

Yup and he also says Nurse is a dumb player with no hockey sense....

Talent Analysis
Darnell Nurse is a big, mobile, gifted blueliner who has a lot of Chris Pronger in his game. He’s an imposing presence on the blueline and has the tools to be successful at both ends. Beyond the bloodlines and support (aunt, father, mother are all elite athletes -- uncle by marriage is Donovan McNabb), Nurse has it where it counts most -- between the ears.
The young blueliner has already assumed a significant leadership role on his Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds squad and will likely play a key role next year on Canada’s World Junior Hockey championship squad.
He easily projects as a top-two blueliner, although his offensive game may not be refined enough to be considered a true number-one. He will be an elite shutdown blueliner who will add at least 25 to 30 pounds of muscle to his 6’5, 200-pound frame. Nurse will be well positioned to be used in all segments of the game (PP, PK, even strength), and his development could rival presumptive first-selected blueliner Seth Jones.
