...such a great experience, kind of a shame he won't be apart of it.
the fact that he is so valuable to the team that he can't be spared is more indicative of the current Leaf D corps than anything.

The Leafs are in a vulnerable position because they refuse to develop players. Reilly can learn much more playing with and against his peers in a high pressure tournament then he ever will switching between the pressbox and 3rd pairing on the Leafs' defence.

Playing and practicing against NHL players is far better for his development then playing against kids.

Playing in an envronmrnt where he can work on the weaker aspects of his game will improve his development rather than an environment where he isn't taking a regular shift and where the coaching staff don't have time to work specifically with him. The best teams develop talent, the worst teams don't.

I think people are overestimating how much "development" happens at a short tourney like the WJC.

A bunch of players come together for a couple weeks and most of their effort is going to be spent gaining on-ice chemistry and quickly picking up the coach's system.

What a rotten PK we've had lately.

Don't blame the goalies too, or suggest fatigue. They've both split time and should be rested.

Even Dion and his side kick Gunnarsson have been very good lately.

It's Kadri who's really pissing me off. Guy's totally uninspired. At least you see Raymond and Clarkson trying to manufacture something out there. Kadri's invisible, and this came after holding out for money.

Maybe Kadri's gotta go.

Meh, it depends on the player's mental strength. If he's a little mentally drained from his first full season, but still has the physical stamina to keep playing then it might be a good chance to get away and maybe build a good winning experience.

The development taking place in the WJC is one of a highly competative, high pressure and assuming they win, winning environment. These are things that can't be taught they have to be experienced. Reilly staying with the Leafs doesn't improve him or the team while him playing for team Canada makes him and as a result, the Leafs better.

Kadri has taken a real step backwards. The boneheaded penalties aren't helping, either.

Goaltending might be getting burnt out under the workload, but it doesn't really seem to matter who we start. The team has given Reimer THREE goals total in his last three starts. The fact that he's salvaged a 1-1-1 record in that span is impressive.

Bernier has gotten 12 goals in support in his last 3. He's also 1-1-1. It seems that no matter what the circumstances are, this entire team is just bound and determined to be mediocre.

You have a guy like Reilly where he can get the best coaching and competition, and that's most definitely NOT in Moose Jaw.

And please realize that while Reilly is better suited to be with the Leafs they are also developing many other players as well.
