"The Penguins have become the best franchise in the NHL under the ownership of Mario Lemieux and star power of center Sidney Crosby. "

Not to open a can of worms, but I'd give that label to the Chicago Blackhawks. I'd say the Pens were the best from 2007/08 - 2010/11.

It was a throw away line from a writer at Forbes, I can honestly say that I don't feel the need to justify or critique that comment. It is what it is, best left alone.

If we are looking at best run franchises how can any argue with Detroit? If your looking at being able keep the team in the contender category while managing around the cap then yes definatly has to be Chicago, this however does not reflect on how well the pens have been the last 10 or so years onLy whish I could say the say about the leafs

Considering he got in for 32M (estimation of what Penguins owed him as a player) I'd say that he has turned a nice profit. Even if he only owns 10% he still made 16M. I think it is closer to 25% ownership stake which means he turned his 32M into 120M. Nice return indeed.

Hey fellow penguins fans. World Junior tickets went on sale today for Jan 2015. I assume this will be a big coming out party for mr. Connor McDavid. Figured some of you may be interested'

Considering the type of market the team plays in, 8th is pretty impressive. They've done a much more long term foundation building growth within the region than a team with a much bigger market would need to.

Didnt see the Montreal game, but the reactions seemed a bit much considering we were coming off our best effort of the season 2 games previous. Ups and downs.

Given Bennett's previous wrist injury in college, I'm hoping we are not seeing a disturbing trend.

3rd game in 4 nights and on the road to boot. That was going to be a tall order no matter how you slice it.

I, for one have no issue at all with this situation seeing how it keeps one of the best players ever to play in the nhl, albeit as an owner only. .just hope wayne can get that phnx situation figured out, the game could use him in the nhl again in some capacity

I have my concerns given the current makeup of the bottom 6 forward grouping.

That's been a concern all year. Can't believe I'm saying this but losing Glass is huge

There's not really anything Shero can do to address it either, the low cap this year is what it is.

Penguins have their important long term pieces in place but this year there is no wiggle room to add depth.

Bennett and Glass will be out for weeks not days.

Megna can help this roster more then the 3 guys they have up from Wilkes Barre IMO. Shero holds a chip in Nisk that might be able to help fill the void until Bennett returns and help even after that. Seems like Despres is ready to go.

I will refrain from cursing and calling for Bylsma's head this evening.

I'm pretty levelheaded about the Penguins, I'm not one of the fans who is screaming for a trade, or Bylsma to be fired because of the Despres situation or because he didn't use the play I created on NHL14. But I was pretty disappointed in the complete lack of care in puck management. It was a game of hot potato at times.

I think tonight is fine. I'm a bit more concerned with Wednesday's matchup. Not to say I'm looking past the Bruins. I'm not. I just feel like we have enough out there to give them a good game. Toronto has given us fits in the past with their speed and we've not beaten them yet. It was one matchup but we looked awful. That's why I say that.

Losing Bennett and Glass sucks for sure no matter who the opponent is.

You have a better outlook than I do about tonights game. bartley will love this, but i wasn't impressed with how we were getting pushed around this past weekend. If the Isles and Habs can do that I don't even want to know what the Bruins are going to do. And now we don't even have one of the few sandpaper guys dressed.

When Gionta runs over Fleury and nobody says boo to him it's a bad sign. Really wouldn't mind seeing Engellend back up to the 4th line and Bortuzzo taking his spot.
