Informative blog. Didn't realize that the Panthers had jettisoned so many ex Flyers nor how terrible their numbers rank in the league. Buffalo, Edmonton and Ottawa seem more visible as under performers, probably because of the money they spend on the roster. It does seem strange that the Flyers do better in Florida than at home. I always thought teams were somewhat distracted by the nice weather when making the Florida swing. Nice job, supported with details.

I think we handle Tim Thomas tonight. For whatever reason (possibly that he's with the Panthers) I'm just not worried about him. For the lineup tonight, I would stay with Rosehill if I were Berube mostly because it seems risky to tamper with our current success. That being said, Raffl does need to play at some point and it's probably a better longterm strategy to focus on matchups and play the guys that give you the best chance to win on any given night.

He can look all he wants, I don't see him getting it. Not in front of that defense. 80 goals allowed? Last in PP and PK? New coaching staff? This team is a mess.

6-2 Flyers. Giroux with 2, Thomas yanked after the 2nd

I'm feeling very good about tonights game. The Flyers seem to be buying in to Berube's system and playing very well, plus they have a goalie who is simply playing lights out hockey.

My 3 keys to the game are as follows:

1. Jump on the Panthers early. This is not a confident team and if the Flyers can score a couple in the 1st, they may very well wilt.

2. Roll 4 lines, skate hard and forecheck aggressively. Florida is not a deep team and can be worn down.

3. Don't have a letdown. Remember the 1st period against Buffalo and be prepared to play, there are no truly easy games in the NHL.

Final score: Flyers win going away, 5-1

Go Flyers!!

Hi Bill,

Are you planning on doing your roundup (Rinaldo experiment/prospect updates) tomorrow, seeing as it's not a game day?

I'd stick with the current lineup. I was hoping they'd send Raffl to Adirondack at some point during the home stand; get him SOME competitive playing time.

Not really much to think about here. Flyers play their game as they have been and win this one easy. Its Tampa you have to worry about, they always give the flyers fits in Tampa for some reason.

The good thing about Tampa is that they are without Stamkos... that should make it a bit easier.

All you have to do is hold onto the puck in the defensive zone and wait for the shootout.

It is possible that enforcer Rosehill, who made a defensive miscue on the second Islanders goal on Saturday, could be scratched for Michael Raffl tonight

All we are saying is, give Raffl a chance.

They are a much different team with Cooper behind the bench..

10th in the league in g/g
16th in ga/g

This isnt a 1-4 style team.

Yes, exactly. Was going to do it in the section below the game preview but figured I'd just wait instead for the next off-day blog, especially since I can't be there for practice with the team (and myself until New Years) out of town.

Why scratch Rosehill? Only hold talented players accountable.

Sorry, that stuff irks me. Rosehill & Rinaldo get a lot more rope than more skilled guys to be stupid

He does.

Maybe deservedly, maybe not. Eric was 19 and probably not so wise in the ways of handling such interaction.

And while Stewie may have thought his question was innocent, Lindros may have looked at it as somehow mocking. I don't know.

The one I really enjoyed was the Chris Gratton critique. Mostly, because it lines up with what I saw in Gratton as a player.

This is kind of what I was thinking about Lindros when I read it. The father question had me thinking immediately, "oh that was a good zinger."

I have the same opinion on Gratton and still hate him to this day because they traded Renberg to get him.
