Agreed. He's clearly not ready for the NHL. Rochester would be the ideal place for him this year, but since that's not an option, back to junior it is. What an absolute mess the Grigorenko situation is.

And with 38 games played in the NHL there goes year two of a contract.

Unless he lights the league on fire, assuming he makes it next year, he's not really going to have a ton of bargaining power.

so essentially, he played 40 games for us and we burned 2 years of his entry level deal for nothing

And its not like we are flirting with cap danger anytime soon if they stay the course.

Except he now becomes a UFA at age 25.

well, we should know by then whether he's complete garbage or not. Regier was definitely desperate with this move. I really stuck by him even though he frustrated the hell out of me but in retrospect he came dangerously close to ruining this kids career for the sake of catching lightning in a bottle and hoping he'd just turn the switch on and become an elite player over night. What a shame. Hopefully Grigo turns it around!

LOLOL. More like getzlaf ice. A chore going down, nightmare coming out, and leaves a terrible taste in the mouth.

Absolutely terrible how Grigo has been treated. The guy is the best offensive talent we've had in a long time. If you want to play him with the big boys, the LET THE KID PLAY. He should have gotten playing time on the 1st or 2nd line for at least 2 weeks straight to see what he can do. Instead he gets a stick up the pooper and is either getting scratched or playing on the 4th line. I wouldn't doubt if this kid never wants to play for this organization again.

Garth do you have any applications that have a spell checking feature? If you want to be a good writer some day you should check one out.

It is a shame about Grigorenko but very expected. Talent yes but confidence no. Never saw a player so mishandled and it showed the disfuction and direction of our franchise. I still think he will be a good player down the road but he has to understand how to use his body and skill in the NHL compared to the junior ranks. No one fears his talent at this level until he shows he can do it game after game. Good Luck Mikhail, go get your minutes and confidence back.
