Really excited for the Top Line to see what they can do, a bit shocked as I thought they would protect MacKinnon by keeping him on the Wing and move O'Reilly back to Center.

Should be interesting, seems like a super exciting line on paper right now

Good thing we have 2 amnesty buy outs to use as trade chips this summer. OH you need to buy out that bum, trade him to us as well as this other great asset for next to nothing, we will do that for you

Call me crazy, but while our defense is our obvious weak spot I think we should trade for better offense at the wing. Whereas most of us though we had good depth in the top 9, the injury to Tanguay, the trading of Downie show that we do not. Now we only have two scoring lines, because Mitchell and Talbot are not third line guys, they are great fourth liners.

No I agree with this, we need another McGinn out there, I dont like Mitchell or Talbot in the Top 9. I would rather have McLeod on the 3rd line Wing instead of Talbot.

I think we have a lot of good 3rd line guys who can play the Wing down on the farm. Olver, Malone, Hishon, even Heard is starting to pull it together. I dont want to see the Avs burn an asset to trade for a position they can easily fill later on this season or next year based on our current crop.

I've always honestly thought mcginn was overrated . On our prospects: olver will always be too small to ever be that effective as a bottom 6, I like Malone, but roy wants him to work on d play and positioning a bit, hishon will NEVER be a bottom 6 player and last I heard Heard was no where close to nhl ready.

Both McLeod and Talbot are great bottom 6 players and while I think Mitchell is as well, he has played pretty bad as of late.

I think th issue is still the depleted d though.

as much as i agree, i don't know that its going to go that way with roy and sakic in charge now. seems like Roy will have some influence in how patient the team is during the injurys.. :/

last scoresheet I saw for the Monsters, Heard has a 3 point night, seemed promising out of him out of late but I agree think he is 2 years out of being a NHL player.

Im a big Hish fan, I just want to see what this kid can do as a Top 6 Winger, I think he has the speed and hands, just dont know if he can stay healthy.

In games like Nashville and stl the avs proved that they could score but in every one of our losses its been from massive defensive lapses that cause us to lose the game far before its over. With tge exception of tge Carolina game where peters stole a win all of the avs losses have come from giving up 4 goals or more and in almost all of our wins we have kept the other team to 2 or below.

Tangs being out has made it harder to dominate teams with an unstoppable forcheck and 3 very solid lines of pressure, thus making it harder for the top 6 but what has changed from the avs dominating to their losing streak has been the loss has been on the defensive side of the puck. Tangs was so good at making solid passes out of the zone and controlling the flow of the game that it covered up some weaknesses of our d. It is also why you have seen so many line changes rotating around tangs empty spot.

He's been out of the game for a long time so anything at this point would be a positive. Bottom 6 and top 6 is just a definition of role rather than a player's position on the depth chart though which makes it difficult for him.

I would honestly be surprised if we ever saw hishon in an avs Jersey. It would be a super long shot.

that does seem pretty promising from heard, i dont know alot about him. what is he projected as being at the NHL level in a couple years? hish I have been very high on for a long time i just wish he could stay healthy for an extended amount of time.

heard is a 3rd liner at the best, hes a bigger kid so once he uses his size as a bruiser he could be effective while working on his overall game. But to be honest hes the perfect deadline trade throw in prospect that can get a deal done.

It would be really tough for Hishon to ever crack the Avs Top 6, unless there are some drastic changes over the next few years, I cant see a spot for him in an offensive role either. Im a fan and hope he makes it one day but it would be on a song and a prayer

oh okay, thanks for the info. Who do you think we are going to target at the deadline in some kind of package like that?

It depends on our playoff spot situation, and our contract situation with a few players. In either situation I think we dont make any moves unless its for a player who we think can be a long term player for us. We wont pay the rental premium that usually happens

Hope that your right about not over paying for the rentals. It will be interesting to see what Roy and Sakic decide to do. maybe someone who is in the 26-28 age range that is a solid player for now and the future?

I wouldnt expect any fowards being moved, maybe with only Mitchell sinces hes a UFA, or McGinn for the right price.

It will be more the UFA Dmen being shipped out for contenders looking for depth. Hunwick, Sarich, Benoit, or even Wilson in the right deal.
