Or make an offer for Brian Elliott for a lower price, STL I hear is listening to offers for him and the islanders have pieces to acquire him without moving any blue chip prospects. |

That's going to be a lot of money tied up for them. Things could get interesting. |

i think if the rangers keep Richards, they will have a hard time signing all 3 of Lundqvist, Callahan, and Girardi. most likely Girardi will be the causality. if Richards gets bought out, then there's a decent chance the Rangers will have the cap space to re-sign all 3. |

Somehow Sather will trade Richards for something very good. I don't get it b/c Sather is has signed some of the worst contracts in history (Gomez, Drury, Redden, etc.).. but seems to be able to pull off insane trades. (Maybe from his Edmonton days people just assume they are getting better of deal?) |

he traded gomez at the perfect time to a desperate GM.
apparently, montreal's GM was desperate for a center and struck a deal to get Lecavalier but the trade fell through last minute. then Sather called him up and offered Gomez and got robbed. Gomez's value was still okay at the time so good thing Sather traded him before his value plummeted to literally nothing. he did the same with Gabby last season. |

Guaranteed we don't. The Isles will be more than happy to give Nilsson a start or two in relief of their newly found #1.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've seen his name pop up in the rumor mill lately because of Halak's good play and having Jake Allen waiting in the wings. That being said I have no idea if he is linked to us in particular, nor what it is they specifically want, but I've heard he's avaliable for less than some other big name goalies on the block. He's a good goalie and I'd be willing to move some pieces for him. |

I don't know about you guys but I am happy that Poulin will be given the starting reins for next several weeks. I love to watch him start. I know that there are several games he blew it but you just can't blame him on that alone. It is the team that blew it. Let's go Islanders! let's get back to .500! |

Big test for both.....
Poulin against Toronto on Tuesday
Then we have a back-to-back with Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
I think PIT = Poulin and PHI = Nilsson |

I think there were about 2-3 games early on where Poulin gave up a couple of goals early, largely due to rust. Since then, he's been pretty damn solid. I expect him to continue to get better and better with experience just as any goaltender would. I see little to no reason to 'trade pieces' for a goaltender at this stage.
If we're talking about dealing away prospects or picks, I'd much rather it be for an impact dman but considering Poulin is presently sitting with a 2.52GAA and .909 sv pctg on a team this poor defensively, I'm more than willing to see if his continued play and experience can improve on those numbers.
Meanwhile, Nilsson will get a couple of games to get another taste of the NHL before returning to the Bridge, while other prospects can get a few starts in BPT. This is a win-win for the Isles from a developmental perspective. |
