Todd Cordell: New Jersey Devils Notes: Elias, Brunner, Schneider, Gionta & More

Good blog as usual Todd. It would be nice to have Elias center two lines, maybe he could get both Brunner and Ryder going,lol. The fact is is just shows how valuable #26 is to the Devils despite being the third oldest player. Jagr continues to amaze me and I just hope he can keep it going for the full 82. Good to see Gionta back as he really gets his job done. Marty is all class and one of the greatest to ever play the game and the way he is handling the Schneider challenge is truly professional.

Thanks a lot. You're right, it is remarkable how much Elias still means to the team.

Good blog. Definitely agree that getting Elias back is huge, especially with Jagr's line playing well.

Going into Tuesday's game against the Rags it stacked up like this:

1.25 G per game with Cory in net. Schnieder has a 2.09 GAA, .915 SV%
2.78 G per game with Marty in net. Brodeur has a 2.09 GAA, .908 SV%

This team needs to rally around the young goalie & get him a win. It's amazing that some Devils fans think Schneider is horrible.

This looks like a 2-1 or 3-1 LA win with an empty netter, but I'm hoping it's a 4-1 or 4-2 victory. Time for Cory to get some support.

I am happy to know that Elias and Gionta are back practicing with the team. I am also curious to see Elias play between Brunner and Ryder. Hopefully, this can become a productive line by getting both Brunner and Ryder going.

On the 4th line, I would like to see Carter-Josefson-Gionta play. The Devils should play the 4th line for, at least, 10 minutes every game; Janssen usually only plays about 3 minutes.

Just stupid. Should be Henrique centering Elias and Brunner with Ryder on the wing with Loktionov and Bernier. That is clearly to simple for Pete though, He has to complicate everything.

Been one of the best all around players for us he is like the forward version of Greene. Loktionov can only create offense with certain players and needs to be spoon fed his oppertunities and isnt that great in the face off dot but he has to play center. Just never ceasing to amaze me this coaching staff. Merril has been out a while now for a guy with no concussion since we have had a good gap in games off and he isnt even practicing yet ? something more going on there I am sure of it.

They put him on IR for the face lacerations; didn't say anything about concussion but who knows.

They announced specifically that he passed all concussion tests and that there was no sign of him having one... I am thinking they lied his cuts should be well enough to practice with a full face shield or even play with one. This is the 8th day I believe since it happened.
