Ryan Miller eats Corsi for lunch. Seriously though, he has won games like these for years

It's true, we had no business winning that game. I hope Quick is ok. Seeing as he was trying to stretch and stay in, I'm hoping it's a strain.

Ah, gotcha.

I don't know much about those Corsi stats, but I am guessing they don't take into consideration who the goalie is. Which is funny, because those stats were invented by a goalie.

Here is my take on the Olympic Goalie situation. And you can call me a homer if you want because my team is Buffalo.

Ryan Miller should be the Olympic goalie. Look, he will never win anything for the Sabres and I want him gone. The only good year he has ever had was the year he won the Vezina, which was an Olympic year.

When he was passed over for Robert Esche for the 2006 Olympics, he had to be motivated. I was in the building when the Sabres played the Flyers after that Olympics and he dominated.

Ryan Miller wants to play and win more for Team USA than the Sabres.

I know Sutter likes Lewis. But what the heck was he thinking using him instead of Toffoli in the SO... Even Evans thought it was a bad move...

We already had one strike against us losing Quick at the end of the game...

With so many teams in front of us Winning, We need every point to keep it close...

the corsi number is not a goalie stat.... It is a stat that shows how much offence your offence is generating taking into account shots on goal, missed shots, and blocked shots. Personally, I thought it was a stat made exclusively to cement how terrible we actually are...

Interesting that the LA blogger and fans have anointed Mr. Quick as USA's goalie...really? I believe that it is Miller's crease based on what he has done this year alone.

Miller is definitely earning the spot with his play this year. I've been saying that all along.

He was the general pick after his outrageous cup run, he's starting to come back to earth though.

No offense to Quick, or Kings fans...
But now do u see why us Sabres fans still say Miller is among the best in the game and should still be TeamUSA goalie?!
These kind of lopsided performances happen often
Stats don't show that...
Watch the games...
And you'll see how great Miller still is

Hopefully it's not a serious injury to Quick though
He's a heck of a goalie in his own right

The new Sabres system is to ice the other goaltender by not taking many shots so late in the game he will be either injure himself or be disinterested enough to make a mistake

Not really, over a whole season you're bound you lose games you probably should have won. And likewise, win games you probably shouldn't.

if LA those shot differentials every game, how many do you think they would lose?
one in every ten?

I don't know much about those Corsi stats, but I am guessing they don't take into consideration who the goalie is. Which is funny, because those stats were invented by a goalie.

Corsi stats are best applyed on a team level over a large sample size. So over the course of the season you're not going to see an average of .960 SV% like you did with Miller. You're likely going to see close to the league average. You can't expect Miller to put up those splits over the season, either. had Miller had his average night( career .915%) he would have made 41 saves. And LA would have had 4 goals, not 2.

Miller stole the game for sure, great preformance by him. But to say this game in anyway isn't accounted for in corsi stats is just inaccurate.

Miller is definitely a much better goalie than most people give him credit for. He'll get on the team but Quick will start assuming he's healthy. Millers numbers have been marred by his team's horrible defensive play, though if he gets a chance to play in a game I'm sure he'll show them what they were missing.

Miller will be the starter for Team USA. Not only is he the better goaltender, he is (super)motivated by the huge payday it will bring when he is successful in the Olympics. UFA+Olympics = $$$$$$$$$$

Based on this season alone Miller should get the Olympic nod. However, Quick is the better goalie out of the two. The Kings major problem for the last 2 years, including the cup run, is their inability to finish.
