Posting this again bc Gunner put up a new blog

Hey guys please check out www.hockeysaves.us and follow us on twitter and facebook.

I am now on the board of directors and the Pittsburgh Penguins has invited me along with 4 other members to meet and Practice with the Pens next weds as well as be there special guest for the game.

Hockey Saves is a non-profit organization who helps Military members destress by playing hockey. All ice time is donated to us so service members play for nothing. The NHL has already made us jerseys and pucks.

It would mean alot to me if you guys do this.

Also I will get a pic of me and duper for you guys

Just curious to see:

What's your opinions on the flower for real

Is the penguins possession numbers really helping him or is he actually looking strong?
Keep in mind, the Pens haven't scored less than 3 goals thus far

He's been excellent. Much more controlled and lot less "active". It's the regular season so.....

Both. Obviously the Pens stellar play in front of him has allowed him to stay in control and not try to do too much, which is when the problems(scrambling out of position and flopping) start. He has also been solid every night. Very few second shots, and I can't remember one goal against him that made me roll my eyes. Quite a few of the goals he has given up have been unstoppable high deflections or double deflections...Philly had one, Vanek had one, T.B. had one that I recall.

The time to really answer that question will be April, not now though.

With Bennett close to a return and the emergence of Megna, does anyone think we might be able to get something decent from Toronto for Jeffrey? He obviously has no future here, and the Leafs are desperate for a center right now with Bozak and Bolland out. Not many teams are going to move a top 6 forward this early in the season, so a Jeffrey type player may be all they can manage to get. Maybe a 3rd for him?

I think a 3rd is pushing it a bit, but that would be nice.

I like your analysis of Fleury, I thought it was spot on. When the team plays good in front of him, he looks like a top 5 goaltender. When we begin to play sloppy, he looks like a backup.

We will have to wait until April to see just how dependable he is, however, we also have to see how the team plays in front of him in April.

A 3rd is kinda high for a guy like Jeffrey. Maybe a 5th rounder?

Fleury has been very strong. Just for comparison,

Fleury: 10-2 w/ 1. 8GAA & 0.929 SV%

Quick: 8-5 w/ 2.68 & 0.896 SV%

Yup, its the kind of year we all expected of him when we drafted him #1 overall. But at the end of the day, it's not his regular season statistics that matter as much as it's whether or not this guy can win us another Stanley Cup

The Penguins bar is set high and for good reason. Many could argue that even with a Stanley Cup in the last 5 years, that this team as whole has underachieved

Can you imagine if we did just like the Flyers and out of panic traded away our number one goalie?

You aren't getting a third for a fourth line player that rarely plays.

You mean like many Penguins fans wanted (including several people in here)???

That's what makes me sick is that some fans are so ungrateful for what this guy has done for us. And then he struggles in the playoffs for a couple years and all the sudden everyone is calling for his head? He's only human people. And if you want my opinion, the team that played the Flyers that year played just as bad IF NOT WORSE than he did so you can't completely fault him. And not to take anyting away from the Koun because he was spectacular last season in the playoffs, but it's a shame that it took us benching Fleury to wake those guys up because that was a completely different Penguins team that played in front of Vokoun than the one that played in previous games for Fleury.

EDIT: Also, not to take anything away from the Islanders because they were a #8 seed that played like a #3 seed in that series.

Even though he's in his 10th season with us, the guy is still only 28 years old. Which by the way, is right about the age that most NHL goalies hit their prime. So hopefully, the best is yet to come from the Flower.

A lot of people refuse to admit that.
Get ready for a lot of stats that will support otherwise, the eye test means nothing.

I've been a big supporter of Fleury his entire career(trust me, my wife would disown me if i ever said anything bad about him), but until he proves he's kicked this "Playoff jitters" he's developed over the past few seasons, there will be a huge question mark hanging over his head. And yes, defense plays a huge part, and he was hung out to dry at times in the Islanders and Flyers series, but he also let in a few goals that were questionable at best.

Oh yeah absolutely. He definitely has a lot to prove to us. I believe he will. Many pens fans don't and that's a shame to write this guy off because he's a great nhl goaltender and hopefully when it's all said and done, he will go down as the best goalie in the history of our organization.

I think he is there already.

Part of that he deserves credit for, part of that speaks to the lackluster goaltending in the franchise's history.

Barrasso is his only competition and I do think Fleury is a better tender.

I've always said that Fleury may be the most physically gifted and talented goalie in the NHL. His problem is between his ears, whether it be confidence, lack there of, or the ins and outs of playing goal (positioning, stick handling, etc). If he ever figures out the between the ears stuff, he easily could be the best goalie in the NHL.

I agree , right now his head is straight and he's playing like he's capable , it's all about April , I think it will be different this year but we shall see.( I must admit I was one calling for a trade but it was a poor showing in the playoffs for a couple years now, I agree the team in front of him was not playing great then but there were some SOFT goals allowed)

Yup, I agree that he is the most physically gifted and talented goalie in the league. However, his history shows that his biggest asset can be his worst enemy. I remember when he first game into the league, he used to use those big yellow pads like Pinball flippers
