Until MacT actually makes a shock and awe trade nothing will change. The culture has be set, time to change it. It might be getting rid of Lowe and possibly a few others.

I still believe that this a poorly built team, and that being the majority of the problem (3 good coaches, same results). It is tough to defend Eakins on some things, but at some point you have to give the coach some time.

It's crazy to think that the loss of Pronger is still affecting this team to this day.

Never mind benching players. We should have MacIntyre beat the poop out of anybody who doesn't play worth a damn.

Maybe. I fail to see how getting rid of an owners puppet equates to wins.

It worked in the '80s but we don't have a Gretzky, Messier, Fuhr, Anderson, Coffey, and Lowe...oh wait he is still here. He must have that drug dealer and pimps number right?

One day, after numerous people are fired, Paul Holmgren and Craig MacTavish are going to run across each other and the first words out of one of their mouths will be, "We could've saved the 2013-14 season if we worried less about losing a deal and worried more about having better hockey teams, and gotten a deal done."

what would it take to get Simmonds and Coburn in a deal?

Could the Owner be the problem? So many sports commentators and fans know that this team has the wrong mix of assets; surely management realizes that too. Katz insisted on getting Yak so maybe he won't let MacT trade any of the "wunderkinds" to get big wingers, better D and a starter G.

If it was me, I'd do it for Eberle and a 3rd, or Eberle and a low-to-mid-level defensive prospect.

I know most people would probably rather that be Yakupov, but it's just hard to take that kind of risk with a player who might bolt to the KHL if he doesn't like your style of play -- we're going defensive system, now.

I think that is a fair deal. The oilers have a boat load of d prospects

Honestly we can't trade Eberle. He may not take the opposition to the boards when he is supposed to, but he does everything else so well. Eberle makes his line mates better. This is why he is the perfect complementary player on a strong 1st line, but not the player that stirs the drink so to speak.

That's the thing -- rational people realize that this kind of deal should've been done already.

It's frustrating, because I've watched five Edmonton games now, because of the late starts you guys have since I'm in the eastern time zone. It's borderline ridiculous. You guys need Simmonds and Coburn. We need a more-skilled RW than Simmonds.

Both teams get exactly what they need in this deal.

I can't believe this kind of deal hasn't gotten done.
