"Zidlicky for Norris!"
I guess his "pass it to Jagr" or "pass it to Brunner" strategy works, does it? |

todd most people here view zidlicky in a biased light. he's been playing much better lately but he's still one of the scapegoats for a lot of fans and your not going to convince some of these people otherwise |

You put Gelinas on that top pp unit and give him Zid's minutes and he has 8 points in the same time and likely less PIMS and a better +/-. What does he do that no one else can ? that seperates him from the rest of the guys ? what he brings does not outweigh the damage the guy causes even if he is at almost a ppg. He sure finds himself out on the ice alot when we are being scored on is that just everyone else and not him ? guy makes 1 good play a game and 5 bad ones. He is a bum that has points because of the situations the coach puts him in. Support him all you want but he is a selfish player who rarely passes up a chance to get is weak shot off. |

He's still terrible defensively but as BDizzle said, he's been playing well offensively. I think we can finally shelter his minutes better since we now have two pairings that can drive the play and don't have 2 black holes and a career AHLer on defense. |

the guy might not be as bad as some say but by no means has he done anything to stick up for his play. |

I agree he's been better and hopefully playing him less 5 on 5 will have a positive impact on his defensive play. Think him and Anton benefited from switching up there D partners. I always felt Sal was too slow of a skater to play with Zid and Harold is a career AHLer like you said. Not someone you want with Anton. |

Have to give him his credit for his offensive play it's been good. But it's kind of crazy to say he's a scapegoat. The guy deserves all the criticism he gets. You can't be playing in the top 4 like he does and make the mistakes he does over and over. |

Look at the last two games with Gelinas, he's had a positive impact on those games. Our whole defense has been better and I really think we're just a much better team on the breakouts. If we're spending more time in the offensive zone I want Zid playing over Sal, Atrain, and Harrold. |

He gets the best opportunities of all the D to score points and just be wreckless defensively so of course he is going to put up points lets see him get points while being scratched every other game for constantly doing the same things Larsson does or being benched for turning the puck over. He is allowed to run a around like a wild man with no consequences. You let any offensive D in the league do that and their numbers sky rocket. The thing that pisses me off about him is he is damn selfish. If he is out there with a kid he refuses to pass to them and just takes stupid shots instead of moving the puck to a better option. Guy is a puck hog and a bad one when someone out there who could possibly take some minutes from him. |

Definitily Zid over those 3. Out of Sal and Anton who do you think has been better? I thought Sal started off okay but he tailed off before he got hurt and Anton's play has improved over the last 3 or 4 games. I think at this point I'd rather Anton. |

Agreed. We basically had the 4 useless dmen all playing over their heads. Harrold because he's playing in the NHL, Zid because he was going up against better talent than he should have, starting far too back on the ice too often, and logging too many minutes in general. Sal and Atrain have a role but we can only afford to have one of them in the lineup. |

You make a lot of good points here. Not sure i'd say he's selfish but I do not think he's a smart player. Makes too many reckless decisions like you said. |

I honestly thought in the Flyers series during our finals run that Zid was the best defense man we had taking guys out playing the body being smart position wise then he feel right off in the Rangers series and has been a liability ever since. |

I still like Sal better because I feel like he has been a more consistent physical presence and although he turns the puck over, he usually keeps it to the boards instead of flubbing a pass like ATrain. That said, Anton has played much better these past two games and if he keeps it up, I don't mind him staying in. |

Has been more physical this year than he was last year. That is good to see. He has played worst for us I think you can admit that/ At least right now he is producing and he's better than harold. |

on a side note these last 2 games has been playing with zidlicky, correlation does not equal causality but its possible that zid is helping his play with his offensive play |

I like his 8 points but that doesn't mean he isn't a mess out there. I have a similar opinion of Brunner he has points but the guy isn't much on his own. Sometimes guys have points but haven't played well and things just seem to be going right then you have guys who have looked fantastic for the most part and the points just aren't coming. Henrique has been one of our best forwards in my opinion but he has 4 points so everyone says he is playing like crap which I think isn't true. The you have Jagr who has been playing great and has points to show for it and probably should have at least 3 more goals with some of the chances that just didn't find a way to get in. I get some of you might take this as me just being a huge Henrique fan and he can't do no wrong in my eyes but that just isn't the case the kid has looked great out there is generating lots of offense with or without his line mates they just haven't been going in for him. |

i also disagree that zidlicky's point totals are purely because of the position the coach puts him in. yes he gets put in good offensive situations but he capitalizes on them. he's tied for 3rd in the league in D scoring. plenty of dmen are given the chances zidlicky has on other teams and are not producing the same. i agree his D work is sketchy but some people go over the top on him and far to often and you cant knock what hes done offensively |
