Good trade. It's one thing to say you're rebuilding, it's another thing to actually do it. They are doing the right thing here. Three consecutive years with two first round draft picks. Love it. Miller is next.

I knew it was going to happen, but sad to see Vanek go.

If the Isles cant sign him soon, they will just trade Vanek at the deadline so they will get their picks back. This will not be the last time Vanek is traded this year. I wouldnt run out and purchase a Moulson jersey either. There is no way anybody in their right mind would re-sign here. Darcy will move him along at the deadline to accumulate more picks. This is just another reason to get a better GM in here. We need somebody who is not dumb enough to keep listening to Kevin Devine.

Pretty sure Vaneks agent said to Bob Mac that hes excited to be an Islander and will play out the year and see how it is. I dont think he signs before deadline. But I doubt that the Isles trade him either.

yea im thinking Moulson will get traded before the deadline for more picks or maybe a prospect or two. so nice job Darcy (that hurts to say) now if you could just gather a few more good picks for our next GM to use...
heres hoping your still fired at the end of the year no matter how many nice things you do and we get a real GM that will actually use the picks for real players

Although I hate to see Vanek go, this trade was inevitable and the deal with the Islanders has made so much sense all off-season and now that I wasn't surprised by who our partners were in the deal, either. The only thing that could have made this deal better would have been to acquire Ryan Strome instead of the 1st rd pick. All-in-all, Regier has once again made a quality deal and will likely acquire more future assets at the deadline by moving Moulson again... so I can't knock him there. However, his draft quality still remains to be seen and his parts don't seem to gel together very well... hopefully he will get better at that this next time around, only time will tell. There is an art to building a championship team, it takes a special recipe of a blend of talents... not just talent alone. That, in my opinion, is where Regier truly struggles as GM.

While I like the picks, Moulson is not long for Buffalo. And exactly what did Reiger owe Buff fans? Intolerable suffering..... There is no way you can tell me He could have got more for Vanek at the deadline. I just don't get why you make the move now

I was thinking the same thing. Move miller, ennis, stafford, and leino for as many picks as possible, and then go away and let a real GM go find some hockey players with them.

Great move for the Sabres, they can trade Moulson at the deadline and get maybe a 2nd round pick for him.
