almost everything about this game made me angry...

gryba is just the worst...I can't imagine he plays Sunday and hopefully we rarely see him again...

zibanejab looked strong again ...I very much enjoyed him on the top line..not sure why he got moved back down..

also what the hell was Phillips and Neil doing out in the last minute down a goal??? why?????

they should take more penalties probably...seems to really help the momentum

Gryba makes me nauseous every time he tries to carry the puck up the ice. Can someone pls explain to me how Phillips is out on the ice over Corvo, who can clearly move the puck more efficiently?

Missed the game but I hear Neil proved he's worth having in the lineup.

Points on Ottawa:

(as I said before the game) MacArthur has yet to score. Top 6 forwards on contenders have to be able to hit 20 goals or 50 points.

Zibanejad belongs on the point on the PP (been saying it since last year). At least experiment with it and put Karlsson on the other side.

Gryba has his moments but he gives the puck away too much in quality areas for the opposition. It's very frustrating.

We need our bottom 6 to win us a game or at least do the heavy lifting in the goal department - they would get us timely goals and lots if them
Last year.

We need to grind out a win against San Jose. Our bottom 6 hasn't been doing the grinding and agitating, and popping in a Goal.

Zibby had a strong game. Still rough around the edges but the most impressive "prospect" we have playing this season.

Other than that, there wasn't much to get excited about. Turnovers and penalties are still taking their toll on us. I think they may be due to the lack of confidence we have in our defence. Methot is the only guy back there impressing me. The rest don't seem to have that much confidence in their own zone.

Always seems when a new random goalie plays Ottawa, they end up playing extremely well.

Him and Michalek have been disappointing so far. I like Macarthurs skill and level of play, but the goals aren't coming yet. He is quickly falling into the same category with Turris for me. Awesome player, tons of skill, but wanting more production on the stat sheet from them. I stand by that they will both break out. Turris will get close to 60 points while Macarthur will get 40-50 points. Once the whole team cleans up their turnovers and penalties, the goals will come more easily.

Michalek is next to useless now. I saw this coming about 2 seasons ago. A fast forward with a knee injury is bad news. All he had was his speed. He is not blessed with a great shot, stick handling, or moves. He just doesn't have much to offer anymore.

Gryba gives me nightmares in our own zone. Phillips gives me nightmares in the offensive zone. I mean you can tell that he's not a guy that can handle the puck. His stick blade seems odd to me, it looks small and flat. Maybe if he had a curve and a longer blade like Karlssons stick he could actually stick handle and maybe not have to dump the puck in the corner from the red line. Yeesh, you knew it was coming every time he had the puck in the neutral zone. Yes, I know Crosby uses a flat blade but c'mon that's Crosby and he's got that sick backhander.

gryba needs to be gone, yesterday.

the sens will be competitive this year, but i don't think this is can be our year by any means. ideally we'd have players like michleuk and macarther playing on the 3rd line. not because they arent good, but bc we'd have that much depth that we could ice an above average 3rd line. instead we have a bit of a porous top 6, bottom 6 and well, defence in general. its not that we are bad a team, but we are not a great team. not yet. we need to make some moves and fill out that top 6, and some of our top 6 could then be used to help bolster our bottom 6, in addition with some bingy players who will be perhaps more ready to compete after this year. we need a real nhler to fill gryba and take pressure off phillips. i think cowen can and will be good. ek will get better. weircoch will improve as well, or could be used in package to upgrade top 6 depending on where ceci is at the end of the year. ideally i'd prefer to keep him though.
point is, sens are a good team, but it will be hard to become a great team with the lineup that we have, unless mac works some kind of miracle. anything is possible with the stache, so i'm not ruling it out. but deep down, i'd place us as a fringe middle of the pack team. nothing wrong with that. year 3 of 3 year rebuild.

Not sure how you decided these words apply to MacArthur but despite Yost's praise for MacArthur's neutral zone stats, he's a competent player that doesn't usually hurt his team when he's on the ice. Awesome & tons of skill were not applicable terms for his play in Toronto.

I agree that for the opportunity he's been put in with the Sens, he should be making more of a contribution than what you've seen....but for a team that has struggled a bit offensively over the past couple of seasons, I'd put him in the 30-40 point range.
