Word just came down he felt better today. With Iowa so close less information can be gleaned from Wild callups than before with AHL affiliate in Houston. Harding probably maintenance days with Backstrom in both home and home games versus Blackhawks. Barring Backstrom setback of knee issue No Gustafsson. |

With Backstrom back does he get the majority of the starts or is it a "go with the hot hand" philosophy in Minny? Harding was looking like a brick wall I'd assume he'll be back in the net sooner rather than later if he's not seriously injured. |

Harding has always flashed such promise and ability but as Russo wrote today any opportunity to surpass Backstrom has been stifled by bad timing and injury situations. I think more this year than ever before Harding has the potential to find himself in a timeshare but he comes with very legitimate question marks because of how MS affects a person's life and reflexes.
Harding played very well in last stretch of games this latest injury seem more maintenance related than actual ailment. |

Thanks Deaner. As for your blog, to me Minny seems like the kind of team with a real good mix of young guys and vets, solid all around team. If you get hot near playoff time who knows what could happen. |

Anyone heard who will start against Chicago tomorrow? I need another start and I have Hardning, need to know if I need to drop him.
Just saw he was injured last night, so that's doubtful. |

I swear I am going specifically write NINO only piece just for Islander fans as I completely get it, as a Wild loyalist I have an eye on Johan Larsson and Matt Hackett and their development and ultimately their careers. With the draft picks iinvolved in the Pominville trade there is no attachment but prospects are different of course.
Nino SO FAR a month in just gets it. He has initial played like a kid not wanting to disappoint or find himself on the business end of a coach and GM with egg on their face. He has been extremrely
responsible in all 3 zones with effort and positioning. Surprisingly he is very unselfish complimentary player. I think going forward Yeo and Wild need him to play more decisively and shoot the puck more but a very good safe start. |

It will be Backstrom for next 2 versus Blackhawks minimum barring his own setback. Harding thing seems more maintenance issue than full fledged injury. |

He scored last night. He's looked pretty decent, working hard and was on the first line for a couple games. I think they are trying to see with whom he fits best in this Wild line up. He's been fairly solid for the most part. |

Good for him. Was expecting big things from him. Think he's going to be a great player once he adjusts to the NHL. |

But he'll want too much money. I thought the Wild owner was against giving players big-dollar/long-term contracts. |

I think that argument has been beaten to death and is pretty much obsolete and irrelevant at this point... If fans outside the Minnesota Wild market had a clue as to what Leipold was referring to, they would have understood that he was referring more to the contract mishandlings by former Wild GM Doug Risebrough who was notorius for handing out big long term deals to slightly above average and mediocre players. Mark Parrish is a prime example, Dougie handed him a 5 year deal worth nearly $14000,000. He's been gone for nearly 5 seasons and the Wild are still enjoying that cap hit! |

Leipold isn't against it personally. He was just carrying the water for Bettman on that issue. He's against teams like Philly and New York outspending smaller revenue markets like Minnesota. Even the playing field and teams like that go to hell. No evidence of that this year, is there? |

Which also why the fallout over Winter Classic slight felt so personal and why it seemed so reasonable for the Wild to expect to be favorites for the highlight event in 2014 before it was awarded to Washington. |

May have wanted to publish this after the Chicago games coming up. These games will show us how effective Yeo's system really is...as well as how much the players have bought into it. I would be thrilled with 1 win against the Hawks. |

I believe the timing of that would have been adventageous especially if they enjoy success but it would have been disingenuous and I pride myself on presenting a Take and reaping the reward or savagery that comes as result. |
