Matt Karash: Hurricanes Game Day Preview: @Minnesota--Team USA 1st pairing preview? - CarolinaMatt63
Faulk's a beauty, but I don't know if he beats out Byfuglien for that spot on the top pairing. I think Team USA needs Buff beside a steady hand to cover for some of the chaos in his game. Faulk ought to make the team, though, and possibly be played with a wily vet like Paul Martin on the 2nd pairing. The third pairing is where it starts to get harder, though. With a bunch of guys like E Johnson, Carlson, McDonagh Bogosian, and Yandle struggling (to different degrees), it might open the doors for a rookie like Jones or a steady vet like Orpik.
As an Oilers fan, I'd love to see Petry get a shot, but there's just too much depth ahead of him to even make it in a replacement role.
Good read, by the way |

The bigger ice surface is all about skating. Byfuglien fits somewhere and is a key component on the power play, but I am not sure he is more than a 3rd pairing dman in this kind of game. I really think the 2014 Olympics is a changing of the guard a bit for Team USA. I think at least 2 if not 3 from Faulk, Carlson, McDonagh and Shattenkirk make the team and while I don't think Seth Jones makes the team, you have to figure he is in the mix this time and a favorite for next time. |

Seth Jones will make the team, watched him a couple times this year and he is arguably as good as Weber right now, and I am serious. He will be on that team. |

While i see the Wild playing pretty good D...it seems our 2nd and 3rd lines may be able to keep the pressure on w/ Skins, Ruutu, and J.Staal creating some offense...!
!st line could easily dominate if they are on their game! Goalie play will determine the outcome, IMO! |

I think you nailed it. With two of their top 4 dmen out, some goals need to be scored while Suter is off the ice. |
