Good read
Yes both teams lost, but, the Nucks lost in a shootout to the best team in the league. Anyways, what's the deal with Ryan Johansen? Big talented kid, from Vancouver, he just can't seem to put it all together for the Jackets...puzzles me.
Trade? |

With the way the Jackets offense has struggled you may well be right. I watched the Canucks game yesterday and they did play real well aside from that tying goal in the third.
I'm not really familiar with Lack; what's your take on him? Is he a legitimate NHL caliber goalie prospect or more of an AHL guy? |

I like Johansen a lot. He has the size-skill combo to be one of the top two-way centers in the league. I see a lot of David Backes type potential in the kid. It's hard to remember sometimes that he is still just 21 and didn't even turn 21 until this past July. He still has time to develop but this is a big year for him. I wouldn't be looking to deal him yet if I was Jarmo. |

Can I chime in? Ok thanks...
Lack is a bit of an unknown even to most Canuck fans. I don't think anyones seen enough of him to make a call. |

Ya - I wouldn't be giving up on him any time soon given his age. He's got the makings for a very good two way center. Love to see him back in BC though! |

Couple yrs ago a few sites had him as one of the best goalie prospects in the game. Had a amazing yr in the AHL 2 seasons ago. Last yr he only played a handfull of games before being shut down with hip surgery.
I've seen him live a few times. Very calm goalie, big man. Reminds me of Kari Lehtonon |

I remember he was a great find for the team and on a good development path, until his hip issues. Most, including myself, haven't seen enough of him. I did watch him in Chicago with the Wolves, but the NHL is a different beast. He played very well against the Flickers. |

I remember hearing his name a couple years ago in relation to the plethora of good goaltending options in Vancouver. It seemed like some thought he was going to be the next big thing (pun intended) in goal for Vancouver. I tried to look him up on HF and they didn't even list him this year surprisingly. |

He's 25. So not by NHL standards a prospect anymore. Has had a solid resume in whereever he's been but still pretty untested in the bigs |

Yeah, he's been rock solid in the AHL(except last season when he was dealing with a hip injury than ultimately required surgery and ended his season pretty short). He wasn't well known as a junior player since he was backing up Jakob Markstrom over in Sweden. |

Well, you never know I suppose. No one had heard of Hank when he came over from Sweden. I also don't remember Quick being a big time prospect but he's turned out alright. Goalies are hard to project and you never know what you have until you see them play in the NHL. |

Love what the new management in Columbus has done. Hope it's a fast paced game, looking forward to it. - Nucker101
I would expect it to be fast-paced but defensive. We all know Torts preaches responsible defensive play and shot blocking and the Jackets are usually at their best when they limit their turnovers. I'm anticipating a hard-hitting game with focus on the defensive side for both teams. |

Torts is actually employing a more offensive/aggressive system than Vigneault did his last 2 seasons here. I think he's coaching more like he did in Tampa. |

Hopefully he doesn't revert back to playing a more defensive style as he ended up doing in New York then. |

I think he did that out of necessity. He had a lot of gritty players on that 2011-2012 Rangers team and then with no real training camp it was hard for them to work in a more open style with the influx of more skill. So with a playoff berth on the line he had them playing the same way last season which didn't necessarily mesh with the players he had to start last year.
So, I'm sure you guys will say it was a good goal but my problem was H. Sedin used his stick to push McElhinney into the net. I had no problem with the no whistle from Van Massenhoven but I didn't think a player can push the goalie into the goal and that's what Sedin did. Thoughts? |

Interesting.
As for the goal, yeah it seemed like a 50/50 call to me, I don't think McElhinney ever had full control of the puck but it was underneath him and he was pushed back into the net. |
