2. The Oilers fall back plan if they don't get Ryan Miller, is Ilya Bryzgalov. Bryzgalov was on a tryout contract with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL up until this past week when they decided they're moving on. The Wranglers were really impressed with how hard Bryz was working and they wanted to keep him, however Bryz is focused on playing in the NHL this season. There were scouts at the games watching Bryz, and I've been able to confirm that one of those scouts is indeed from the Edmonton Oilers.

I thought Ilya just has skated and never played yet?

Well what good is that? Ty Rimmer looked legit in training camp, but we all know that means nothing.

Need to see Ilya play some games, although I suspect we are the team from the West that he rejected. Too cold and bears aren't far away.

My money is still on Elliot for some reason, not sure that he is the guy we need though.

Giroux playing RW with the Twins would be pretty scary.

Voracek, Cooter + for the Twins?

Mike Gills is thee worst GM in NHL history. Well him or Mike Milbury. Nonis has done nothing but mess up that team. Any success the Canucks had in the past was due to how Brian Burke and Dave Nonis built the team.

If the Sedins are moved, how much longer before a few other veteran Canucks are moved? Could this be the beginnings of a rebuild on the fly? Maybe Gillis learned something from other teams, who waited too long to move aging stars. You know, Iginla and Sundin. The Canucks have and will continue to tread water, with this lineup, so why waste time?

If Vancouver trades the Sedins they immediately become one of the bottom 5 teams in the league. There will be no "rebuild on the fly" for that team. That would be a bottoming out scenario.

I don't see how any team could put together a package for two possible UFA's that Gillis would want. Yes I understand the quality of the Sedins but without extensions signed I don't see it all.

I doubt Gillis would bite the bullet like he did with Schneider and take less than a kings ransom.

I could only see a team paying alot if theyre in the win now mode. A team like Detroit comes to mind. Not tons of high end talent but they could move tons of pieces and picks. Not that a trade with Det would ever happen. Just saying. A team like that. Maybe something with Ott. Spezza +++ for the Twins. Or maybe the Caps. Put OV on the RW with the Twins would be nuts.

thats what he thought he could get for luongo.....he has been dreadfully wrong about so many things its become unbearable...the only positive thing i've seen him do is pick up stanton from waivers...great move there...but other than that, ever since 2010 he's (frank)ed the team unbelievably

I disagree, in part. Gillis has made some good moves. He & Gillman consistently get players to re-sign for less that market value, brought in Santorelli, Garrison, Hamhuis, Higgins.

Where Gillis fails miserably is trading. The Schneider, Ballard and Hodgson trades were all terrible. I can think of just one great trade, Ehrhoff.

It's almost like we need a GM committee. Gillis & Gillman can handle contracts and FA's, but maybe they need someone to advise on trades?
