He's played six games with a new team, system, etc. He hasn't played well, like I said, but it's still early.

He's part of it. Either way, his possession numbers have been garbage.

He hasn't impressed much since his first couple of games with NYR last season. Season is still young though...

He is not good...Lou made another stupid signing, hated it from the moment it was signed. This could be Rolston level bad. We don't have players like Couture, Pavelski and Thorton to carry Clowe. I remember Chere writing about a source in the Devils organization telling him he wasn't in favour of signing Clowe, well he is looking smart.

Would the fact that we cannot win face offs to save our lives have something to do with the fact that he starts in the offensive zone and has lots of shots against ? I am by no means sticking up for him and I assume that would apply for just about everyone on the team. The few times and they are FEW I have noticed him on the ice in the offensive zone he is always curling off the side boards and passing it back to the points instead of trying to drive it to the net or even take a shot himself. I am thinking his confidence is still hurting and he knows what he signed for and knows what everyone else is thinking. I would think if he doesn't produce things might get tense since Lou seemed to like him more the Ryder based of contracts given. If I am Ryder I am wondering why I am only making 3.5 while a guy who had 3 goals last season is making just over a million more and long term. I think once the bounces start coming our way a lot of our players will have a little hike in their stats.

At the deadline:

Ryder and Jagr to contender for a 2nd round pick. Even if they are rotated in and out of the lineup on a healthy scratch basis, they are still good depth to have in the playoffs.

Literally the only veterans we could move. Everyone else we're stuck with. We desperately need draft picks, and more importantly, we can't afford to squander the picks we do make like waiving Urbom, not playing 1st rounders like JJ, Teddy, and Larsson.

Clowe is lumbering guy. He played well in SJ because his linemates were elite and mobile, allowing him to set up. New Jersey doesn't have that luxury and right now Clowe makes a slow team even slower.

Can't win faceoffs. Can't sustain offensive zone pressure. Can't play sound positionally in their own end. Can't win a foot race. I'm really trying hard to find a reason why this could turn around, but I'm not so sure anymore. This team has shed three 30 goal players inside of two years, one of them being their strongest skater in Kovy.

Nothing that hasn't been said already, but they either need or new system or a gutting.

They're going to scare Cory aware = waste of another 1st rounder

He didn't play any better on his old team, system, etc. He started going downhill in 2011 and that accelerated last year. He's slow and his body is breaking down from all the injuries. There is a reason only one team was desperate enough to give him almost $5 million a year for 5 years. At least the Devils still have one buyout left.

I wil never get why we used a compliance buy out on a 40 year old back up goalie making 1 million

Zidlicky was overrated when he was still with the Wild. An offensive defensman who couldn't score and was a turnover machine!

Yup. I would make the argument that he is better then Kurtis Foster ? maybe haha

This team is such a mess right now. They can't play a defensive system like Jacques because they don't have the d-men capable of that. They can't play the up-tempo, possession game DeBoer wants because they are so slow and awful with the puck. We're also the oldest team in the NHL...and it shows.

And I really hate to say it because I love the man and all he's done, but Lou's recent signings of Zid, Zubrus and Clowe, as well as the extension for Henrique, really have me wondering if he's lost his magic touch.

I was happy to rid the team of foster for him but I was not at all happy about zid becoming a devil. Can't believe he's still here.

Those were such strange trades. We wanted Fraser gone, then we traded him for foster. Then we wanted foster gone and we got zid. We want zid gone now and we're still stuck with him.

I know the search never should of ended with Zid for a puck moving defense man. I would of almost rather gave Ryan Whitney or Tom Gilbert a shot over Zid at least they are fresh faces.
