they would not be stupid to send Monahan back - it will be a tough call but in the end they would be smart to do it.

They aren't going to compete for the cup this year regardless of the hot start and they'll just burn a year off his contract on a season that is basically meaningless. Yes it would be good experience but he needs to clean up his defensive game and he can do that in the minors.

Do i think he deserves to be sent down? No.
But for the benefit of the flames organization i think it would be a smart move.

Great Article!

Is there any concern in regards to Hodgson's development and performance in the Buffalo's camp? Is his injury bigger than what is being conveyed in the media?

What does the Sabres need to do to turn it around? Line shuffles? Trading Miller and start the Enroth Era?

Hopefully Hodgson and Vanek can start clicking. Perhaps it's time to really blow up the team and trade Vanek and Miller, seemed to have worked for Calgary (who should think about trading Cammaleri as they are playing great without him).

Thought?

Line combinations and D pairings from the Flames @ Leafs game on Wednesday night:

They played the Leafs?

Monahan is going to be really good. He was coveted by a lot of teams. I said to everyone that the Flames are not going to be great this year but they wont be as bad as everyone was saying. They work hard. Get some lucky bounces and good goaltending and get some points.

I'm sure Habs fans won't mind Garth calling their team the Leafs.

Well it's about damn time.

Grigs needs to spend some time after each practice fighting Ott, or Girgs, or Foligno in 1-on-1 puck battles until it clicks in the kid's head.

Show some damn passion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Him not being able to play in the AHL is killing his development. He clearly isnt ready for the NHL, and junior hockey obviously wasnt doing anything for him. The junior hockey/AHL contract rules and age restrictions are absolutely moronic. Having him play against competition he isnt ready for, and then punishing the kid by parking him with McCormick and Scott, or in the pressbox is pointless. The kid can, and I think will, be very good. The AHL is where he belongs. It's hosing his career. Call out his work ethic all you want, but after 25 games where he was clearly in over his head, how on Earth did anyone think a full 82 game schedule was gonna make it better, and that he'd adjust just fine... I feel bad for him. Im sure the language barrier doesnt make it any easier, and you can see him just retreating into himself. It's really worrisome. Can they send him back to juniors? Is that still an option?
