One thing I noticed on the power play was stagnant movement without the puck. Everyone picked a spot and never shifted through the penalty kill box or had the D-man creep down low weak side. When they did have a lane to shoot they would hesitate and look for a perfect pass.
Move the puck. Move without the puck. Shots on goal when a lane opens. Put away rebounds. Sounds simple to me.
Lots of premium chances to score for us. Philly didn't do much of anything but when luck found their stick they were quick to capitalize. Mason played very well. Sometimes that is all it takes. A few games back against Philly, Clemmer stood on his head and saved 40+ shots and the Cats won a game with like 14 shots on goal. It happens. |

It's funny our power play and penalty kill have swapped!
If only this team could learn to score some goals we would be a force to be reckoned with. |

I think praying that your owner doesn't find a way to relocate this team matters most.
I'd start there. - IRON.MAIDEN

No team can be unstoppable if they can't score. This team has a bunch of inconsistent goal scorers. It's 3 games in but no goals from Flash, Steeger, Huberdeau, Matthias.......... when you lose your top line center during the off season did you really think this team was going to magically have a better offense just because it's a new season? I don't think so.
Panthers will be in the negative with goals for goals against for the rest of the season. We are talking about a young team mixed in with a group of misfit vets that no other teams wanted. This is the brand of hockey for now in Sunrise, it's not going to all of a sudden get better. Can't win games if you average less than 2 goals a game. Lets be realistic. |

We will get it going soon enough. Lets look at the bright side of things, Barkov is looking really good, Markstrom came in and played awesome, versteeg played really good against philly, just didn't get on the scoreboard. I honestly would like to see Matthias on the top line, he doesn't belong on the third line, to much talent. Goc Is the perfect third line center. |

Don't encourage him. All he does is take what we say and spin it..
Like how I said WHEN we find our offense.. as in, if we don't find it, it's going to be a long season. |

yeah I spin it around. You have no clue man. The Panthers suck. Can't score, defense is suspect. The future isn't that bright with this team. It's going to be a very long season of you defending this group of bums who can't even average 2 goals a game lol. |

Defense SUCKS. Kulikov is soft, Weaver is a miget, Campbell is a liability defensively, Whitney is a kuba, Gilbert is old and Gedbranson is young
Offense isn't much better. We got a bunch of 3rd and 4th line forwards. Someone tell me how the hell is Goc the #1 center? HELP |

Jesus, you're STILL here?? I want to know who your favorite team is, because it's apparent that the Panthers don't hold a candle to your team.
As someone who is not a fan of the Panthers, you have NO RIGHT to come on here and bash the team, Again! We know what's going on with the team. We've been watching the games and the last thing we need is someone like you judging our team based on three games. |

Well... I don't have that much confidence for tonight's game against the Pens. Unless, of course, the guys take last night's shellacking as a motivator.
Much as I like Dineen... I'm thinking his time here is nearing an end if play like this continues. |

No one on our team takes the body consistently with the exception of Upshall. Their compete level is low, as a group they are soft on the puck and collectively they need to raise their offensive and especially defensive awareness.
Tonight could easily be another 7 goal beatdown. Imagine an immensely more skilled team with better coaching, off for two days waiting for another teams home opener after that teams 4 game road trip and on a back to back. Seriously the only teams worse off than the Panthers (4 game trip back to back to open), schedule wise, to start the season are Ottawa (6 game trip with day off before home opener) and NY Rangers (9 game trip with day off before home opener).
Yeah this recipe is another Fla7GB (Florida 7 goal beatdown).

We needed that last night. This is the team we knew we had. Hey Viola, get Boyes re-signed right about now. This guy hasn't lost a step and will continue to get better. Along with Fleischman and Versteeg the vets finally woke up. How about Barkov and Huberdeau? Finally have the 1-2 punch we need for the future of this team.
The second and third goal for the Pens' should have def been stopped. Markstrom has to sure up that five hole. That's honestly one of his only big faults right now. He's so big it's hard for him. Has to keep his stick down. Also on the second goal, would have been nice to knock someone on their ass.
Our defense finally stepped up for the most part. Lost in last nights goal scoring free-for-all was Matt Gilroy coming in and playing a great game. He looked MUCH better than Ryan Whitney, and wasn't out of position once that I saw. That's not easy to do when you have Crosby and Malkin out there.
Our PP finally woke up. How many PP goals did we get? 2? 3? Whatever the number, we needed it.
All of this without Sean Bergenheim, who goes to visit his surgeon Tuesday and should be cleared to play. He's not only a scoring threat, but also a great defensive forward.
Great game overall. Teams in our division or conference whatever the heck it is are struggling right now and we gotta take advantage. Take out the Kings on Sunday.. and go on the road and PROVE we aren't a fluke.
Something else. I wasn't able to get to the game last night. First opener I've missed in over 10 years (my pregnant fiance was sick), so I watched from home. When Dale Tallon was interviewed before the game and spoke of our new owner, he said something before he never said. Instead of saying that he was happy with our roster and going to stick with the team we have now, he mentioned that Viola has given him permission to make the huge trade and sign the big name free agent. First time I ever have heard that; at least in the last 10 years. Viola sat down and didn't talk about Club Red or the new score board.. which was nice btw, but about how this is a great hockey market and how his first goal is to get a following like Tampa has. You love to hear that from an owner. |
