It's funny cause I was looking at the numbers this morning before you wrote this article.

Definitely a few troubling stats. Joey Mac's save % is pretty bad but he has played decent. I'd like to see Ramo for 3 or 4 in a row. Still really curious to see what we've got.

Goalies Save % numbers often reflect PK numbers hence the rankings. But that faceoff % is laughable! haha, work needed there for sure, especially with Stajan out long term. I saw Jones take a few draws last night in the Canucks end during the Flames PP and he won them both cleanly. Maybe he will start taking more draws?

With that being said, here are the first set of stats and where the team ranks across the NHL.

GF – 1st
GA – 2nd
PP% - 22nd
PK% - 28th
SF – 6th
SA – 24th

The Flames are T26th in GA, not 2nd.

I am quite impressed with the Flames to date. Rebuilding takes time, but this group seems to have a lot of jump. I'm not saying that this is a playoff team this year, but the youngsters look really good.

Youre looking at average goals against/game where they're ranked 27th, which includes 5v4 4v5 etc....I was using nothing more than GA totals, where they are tied for last...I suppose its how you look at it, first in total goals allowed or first in terms of least amount of goals allowed. Either way, Ill make an edit.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the new look team. Loving the never quit attitude

but....
I'm wondering if they are being taken to lightly and opposing teams are , at first, mailing it in.
then they get hit head on and wake up.
See Washington and Vancouver. Teams good enough to switch it on when needed.
Just a thought.
lovin watching the new look team though. very entertaining.

It was a couple bonehead turn-overs that got Vancouver back in the game last night. Not the "genius" coaching move to split up the lines or Vancouver turning it on.

Glencross hangs on to that puck and Flames win

True....but you are forgetting the Flames were the one to tie it late and send it to OT last night....a little come back of their own

Still attainable...6W, 16L, 60 OTL = 72pts

Haha...I think the Oilers have proved that getting a first overall pick (or 3) doesn't guarantee anything.

I honestly don't think the pace is sustainable. We all knew (assume) going into the season we would lose more than win and despite early success, I'm still holding to that prediction. I love the compete level so far but will we see the same by game 40? Time will tell. Stats are what you make them. If the veterans on this team don't play to a higher level than the kids, I hope we'll see the Knights, Seiloffs sooner than later.

For those who watched the game - how did Colburne (sp?) look? Did he spend the night on the first line after?

Nope played mostly 4th line but looked good I thought. Was throwing his body and bit and their line created some scoring chances as well.
