- The Devils were hammered in the faceoff circle last night winning just 22 of 55 faceoffs (40%). A better effort in the dot tonight would certainly be beneficial.

We can't have elias and lokti both at center. If we are going to keep Elias at center (which I don't like) Josefson needs to play.

Elias was 42% last night. Loktionov 67%. They weren't the problem. It was Henrique (17%) and Gionta/Carter (both 0%).

Last night was a train wreck.

Odd man rushes, face offs, PP was not great either!
It takes some time especially with Jagr's line, it was like a pre-season game for that entire line.

Schneider should have had the first goal back, but he was not the problem. He did make some great saves to keep the Devils in the game.

The D was a deer in headlights.

Good to have another game right away to fix the issues. Interesting test with the Islanders and Tavares.
The team needs a better effort at home, this can give us a nice feeling.

Exactly. Let's hope they come out stronger and bring more intensity. They took to long to get going last night.

Interesting. Elias at 42% is still terrible though and lokti only took 6 draws. Don't know why Henrique took so many from the wing. Special teams maybe?

Still can't understand wh Harrold is in instead of Fayne. Fayne eats minutes and plays pretty mistake free defense.

Anyhoo...

Man this Isles team is deep. And young. They could be VERY competitive this season and for the foreseeable future. Hopefully lines start to gel, faceoffs are less of a glaring issue and the Devils can play possession hockey like we know they can. A few bounces would be nice too.

Brock Nelson can go ahead and get ready to scoop a puck out of the net for his trophy case. Brodeur is the generous legend, allowing so many players to say "I scored my first goal against HoFer Martin Brodeur.

Let's go Devils!!

Well I'll be following your blogs on the Devils then, always interested to see how Schneider's doing and my old buddy Corey Schwab (we played together) won a Cup with the Devils.

Anyone hear what the new goal song is going to be? The new owners removed Rock and Roll Part 2 as the goal song, which I agree with. I'm not a fan at all of the "you suck" addition the fanbase has decided to add to the end. We are a winning organization. Act like you've been there before.

Go ahead and let loose with the attacks. I know I'm in the minority on that one.

Not even a swan song? Maybe just use an old picture of Schneider (in a Van uniform)...

I think Fayne should be in the lineup but I did not see Harrold getting torched last night. That second goal Volchie fell down and the Pens forward made a nice pass.

If you want to talk about D-Men making mistakes, Larsson misplaced the stretch pass on the first goal. He made the same mistake later in the game that led to an excellent change by Pitt. He also misfired on the shot that led to goal #3 (I know Schneider should have had.)

The real problem with this team is lack of goal scoring

The way I see it, yesterday wasn't THAT much of an indicator of anything, apart from the D. In terms of offense, it is disappointing that there were no goals, especially on Henrique's penalty shot, but you have to expect that with an essentially new team.
In terms of Schneider, it's extremely hard to come in as a young goalie and face Crosby for the first time, successfully.
