To me Voracek is not a player who deserves only 3rd line minutes, he needs to be on one of the top 2 lines getting plenty of ice time.

As odd as it sounds, it may work out with less PP time.

Good Blog Bill

I have a few points:

--Newbury possibly in the top 9!?! WHAT? Can someone explain this to me because there are plenty of other AHL callup options who have versatility and I see him as just a 4th liner.

--Really going to stick with the spreading out the offense Lavi? How did that work for you in Toronto...Too soon? Put Voracek in the top 6, preferably right alongside Giroux where he belongs#FreeVoracek

--Lavi, this is an intervention. Its really more than getting the shots on the net. It doesnt matter if we cannot get past the blueline to take those shots. Its really about the system and team defense. Its time to change but were here for you every step of the way.

Theres my 2 Cents

Congratulations, Brayden Schenn!

You just got a spot on the top line pretty much handed to you even though you kinda don't deserve it.

I hope you make the best of playing with Claude Giroux.

Lavy is saying that the changes were made to spread the wealth? We only scored once for gods sake. Leave jake on the top line.

I think that the balanced lines worked well. We were getting tons of scoring chances in the first two periods with Schenn on the Giroux line and Read on the Lecavalier line.

In my humble opinion, when healthy, this team has too much "Top 6" talent to justify a top 6 / bottom six structure.

"Even at practice here, we're firing Scud missiles from the slot or coming off the rush, and they're smashing off the glass," said Laviolette.

Scud missiles?? Showin' your age there Lavy. For you youngins out there, Scud missiles were developed/manufactured by the Soviet Union and then exported to various global baddies back in the 80's. Iraq and Iran shot them at each other during their war in the early 80's. Scuds were, perhaps, most famously used by Saddam Hussein against the US and allied forces in the Persian Gulf war. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but Laviolette could be using the word in a negative sense to describe the Flyers' inaccuracy in shooting, as the missiles often missed their intended targets during the war.

There were noticeable changes in the Flyers game 1 compared to last Season.

jake has earned the right to be on the top line he proved it last year, shenn still doesn't impress me he never has... yes he got the loan goal against Toronto... but for all the hype that surrounded him he certainly doesn't live up to it , until he reaches the "potential" that everyone says he has, he doesn't deserve to be on the top line...

B Schenn was one of the Flyers best forwards in game 1. That being said, I'd like Voracek back on the top line.

If they feel the need to regularly dress Rosehill, Newbury's a good choice as the 13th forward. Unlike Raffl or McGinn, his development won't be affected with a series of healthy scratches.

Also not a huge fan of Brayden Schenn staying on the top line. Would rather see Read, if not Voracek.

Pretty sure it was intentional, given the context. A great reference by the coach.

The Kinison bit about them is hilarious.

These have got to be the most stupid people on the planet. "Hey, I've got a great idea! Let's have a war with the number one military power on the planet!" But we did have to face... their weapon of death. The Scud missile. If K-Mart were a weapon's dealer, they would make: the Scud missile. But it's kind of like a smart bomb. You just fire it out of the trunk of your car... and then turn on CNN to see where it landed! So it's kind of like a smart bomb!

I'll give the new line approach a few games before passing judgement.

For all the talk of Lavy not adapting til it was too late last year, there sure are a lot of questions about his trying something a little different to start this season.

one game does not make a star he has been waiting for his break out year and i am not saying he isn't going to be a good player what i am saying is jake has earned the right to be on that top line schenn hasn't jake and giroux had great chemistry last year, why mess with that

Wasn't happy with the results. But I was really happy with the structure of how they played. Drastically different from last year overall. Still aggressive, but a lot more responsible. Better breakouts, better neutral zone presence, and a forecheck scheme that is still aggressive but a less reckless like the press forecheck they played all last year. Still need to clean up some things, and some individual mistakes. But it's a start. They can win playing like that.

The way Laughton played last night I'd say he is over it. He played very well last night (4 points, 2g 2a)

A young player has to start somewhere. And game 1 was a good start for B Schenn. Give him credit. I agree, I want Voracek on the top line.

The results had a lot to do with the Leafs in general, and Bernier specifically. That's not to say the Flyers couldn't have done better, but the Leafs went into shutdown mode after they took the lead and that was pretty much the end of it.

But, to borrow a past coach's line, I liked a lot of what I saw out there.

I'm still open to it, just not a fan. Stylistically, I think that Read's a better fit.

But kudos for trying

Back in the day, whenever he was on Howard Stern, it was must listen radio. The shenanigans they put up were amazing to listen to
