Wow. Please proof your work. That's just embarrassing. Obviously homer predictions but I also can't take someone seriously when they don't make sense.

Also, please explain how the Oil will be better than they were last year.
Not only will they make the playoffs, but they will finish ahead of Vancouver?

They were a pro-rated 20 points behind the Canucks last season so I'm a little curious how they've closed that gap despite the moves in over paying for Gordon and Ference. Keep in mind they are without their top 2 centers, the Nuge and Gagner, for at least a month.

What else didn't make sense besides Edmonton finishing ONE SPOT ahead of Vancouver?

I know that's incredibly egregious and all but I'm curious as to what else was so completely farcical that you couldn't follow along.

Nucks time is done. The mighty Oil will go .500 til Nuge comes back, then when Gags comes back, they'll clip along at .800.

Yeah, it looked like the Oil were definitely ready to peak after last season. I understand your hope but is there any reason why you think the Oil are going to do this?

The Nucks have won 5 division titles in a row and have been a model of consistency in the regular season and, unfortunately, the playoffs too. However, that's not as positive with a couple first round sweeps.

The Oil have also been consistently bad in the regular season so I'm just wondering what is going to make this year any different?

In all seriousness the additions of Gordon and Ference are great. All of the kids are going to be a year older and more accustomed to the NHL. Even with out Gags and RNH for a month, it's a long season and that will only clip them for about 10-20 games. Mike Brown (Last year) and Joensuu I thought were also good picks ups. Same with Belov and Grebshkov.

Ference - J. Schultz
Petry - Smid
N Schultz - Belov/Grebsehkov/Potter

Dubnyk

That's a servicable defense honestly. If they can hold out until RNH and Gagner are back healthy..bump acton and arcobello and you have yourself a pretty decent lineup all things considered.

Hall, Yakupov, Perron, Eberle, Hemsky, Gagner, RNH. Those are all players who can make an impact on any given night. With Vancouver? Sorry Sedins, Burrows, Hansen.....Kesler? Booth? Higgins? Edmonton just has more explosiveness to the roster.

Like I said in my Vancouver preview...too many questions, not enough answers. They'll make the playoffs, but they are a shell of the former team that you mentioned that won 5 division titles. Last year if they weren't a division title winner they would have been 6th in the conference, and they have been knocked in the first round two years running...last year via sweep.

They are on the downslide. Edmonton on the upswing.

You are speaking too logical and intelligently, along with the use of too many "big words" for that Canuck's fan to understand.

Well done. I thought the highlight was your prediction for Don Cherry.

Thank you. This was what I was looking for.

Their defense looks very similar to last year besides the addition of the 5th defenseman from Boston. Their "explosive" forwards are also the same other than the addition of Perron. Perron was on pace for 45 points last season. The ultra-talented RNH had 4 goals and was on pace for a 48 point season (prorated). Despite having nice hair, I dont think that should be worthy of a new $6 million contact.
Hall, Eberle and Yakupov are good but so is the number one line is Vancouver who will probably score their usual 80 points again this year. Kesler is finally 100% healthy. The last time he was this healthy was when he scored 41 goals.

Believe it or not, Hansen was on pace to scoring more points than RNH last season. You can try and belittle players like Hansen, Kesler and Higgins, but these players are stride for stride with the Oilers that you mentioned. By the way, I think we have a little advantage in net too. I don't think they are on the downslide since none of those players have even hit 30 yet (except Higgins who's 30).

Have only heard very good things about this kid. I'm in NY so unfortunately haven't been able to watch him yet, but getting pretty interested in seeing what he's got.

Now if only LA would bring Toffoli back up...

RNH played the entire year with a busted shoulder. Hansen is a third liner plug. Do you want to give him Horcoff money now or later? (yes, i'm aware he just signed a new contract which is decently priced out.)

Yer livin' in the past man, quit livin' in the past.

Oh, and all your teams success came on the back of playing in the worst division in the league. Washington did the same thing, Presidents Trophies are more indicative of who you play against than how good your team is.

I'm a homer, which means I don't need to explain why I think my team is awesome.

haha right.

At least the Nucks don't have to overpay to keep average skilled players in their city. I think the Oilers' window is closing faster than the Canucks'. With all of these $6 million dollar contracts, time is ticking before guys like Yakupov and Schultz will be going to an attractive city.

Why would we give him Horcoff money when he just signed for 2.5 per year?
That's what players in Vancouver do, they sign at below market rates because players want to be there.

Only points I disagree on - Canucks will be in the top 4, possibly top 3 (if all goes right).

Kesler will be a Selke nominee, likely winning it. The caveat on this is of course staying healthy. But in my opinion, that's pretty much all he has to do to win again.

I'm gonna get scoffed at for this one, I know. Luongo will be a Vezina candidate. I say this because of Olympic motivation, and because he's done with the drama. Expect to see alot more games from him like against the Rangers this pre-season, especially with shot-blocking from the Sedins on down.

Edit: by top 3 or 4, I mean in the Pacific, in case anyone gets the bright idea I'm pegging them to be in the race for the President's Trophy again.

haha yes, the below line-up is much better than the Canucks.

Smyth - Hall - Hemsky
Perron - Arcobello - Eberle

Lol, yet another person picking the loldevils to finish last, guess depth and strength between the pipes matter not when you don't have a horribly overpaid forward.

Didn't you just write a blog stating that Vancouver is going to miss the playoffs this year? I think Columbus is going to do much better this year vs last year because they played in the West where defense dominates and if they bring that same mindset to the East they'll find hole much easier in the offensive minded division.

I think Schneider is your wildcard this year. No disrespect for Brodeur but Schneider will be the one to carry the team into the playoffs.
