In other news, the Flames have placed Blair Jones, Ben Street, and Derek Smith on waivers. Leafs waive Liles.

So is he on the roster right out of camp? I hope he can figure things out in Calgary.

Good trade for the Flames...they get a big young center on the cheap and yes they need centers. This was a low risk - high reward move and I believe it will payoff for the Flames.....now I just have to change it in my NHL 14 (my team is the Flames...love their jerseys )

I like that he is big. Not saying he will pan out but for years Sutter preached abt a big C....ala Joker acquisition.
I think this is low risk high reward. And it might mean Monahan is gone after 9 games. But Stajan is UFA and next yr...Backlund/monahan/Colbourne is a big spine. I like it for the minimal payment. And if Stajan has a 20 g yr I think he might...he shld be re-signed

Still maintain that he would be a good vet guy to have is all...you'd be surprised what he can do to help out with certain young players. But Im not convinced the Flames see it the way I do, so you might be lucky
